No one to blame but myself.
« on: April 24, 2013, 09:04:28 AM »
After purchasing a Browning Highwall in 22-250, I decided to save a little money until a good buy on an upper end scope came along. Bought the Redfield Revenge. Thought that as Leupold is making them, they should be fine on a light recoiling rifle. Wrong. All I did was waste ammo scattering bullets all over the target. The Nikon Monarch it now wares does it justice and from now on will be all I buy. After just four shots walking it toward the bull, the last three could be covered by a thumb nail. This is off a rest, and just sixty yards, (mud prevents the hundred yard shooting) with factory ammo. Can not wait to start finding what it likes in reloads!

Anyone had any experiance with this rifle in the 22-250? What weight range of bullet and loads that have worked for you? Seems like the 55 grain is a go but do smaller or larger work for you?
Thanks for any help.

When Leopold bought Redfield early scopes were made on Leopold's design of the rifleman line, Leopold was losing money on their rifleman so they subcontracted the Redfield line out to a foreign country, I have one of the one's made in USA excellent scope. Even the sales guy new of the problems and recommended the USA version they had both in stock at the time. Mine is on a 223  Winchester highwall,  guess I made the right choice.

With all the competition out there, I can understand there need to make money with a product line. Unfortunately, I can not understand their lack of final inspection. Putting junk in the hands of the customer only serves to eliminate them from our purchase list. Knowing that they are a sub company on Leupold does nothing for their credibility either. The field narrows again.
