It doesn't really matter whether she is a American citizen or not, she considers herself puerto rican, a oppressed race or ethnicity, just as the blacks during the 60s and 70 felt. Many of them would not stand for the Pledge of Allegiance either. It is one thing not to stand or to recite the pledge but you keep your mouth shut during the pledge even if you do not stand. We used to have black enlisted in the army in the 60s and 70s who, even in military theaters on base, would not stand and they would refuse orders to do so. Court marshalling them only gave them what they wanted, out of the white man's army, so they go tthe worst of duties. If they were allowed to leave the theaters while still conscious and then got out of the hospitals after recovering from their 'injuries', they got the worst of duties for the remainder of their tour. Many of the senior enlisted and officers took such vile exception to their refusal to stand or to pledge and some considered it traitorous. Twice I saw some of those who refused garroted to unconsciousness, in front of their buddies, and then dragged unconscious to the gutter by some really whizzed of veterans and although that was both illegal and very politically incorrect, nobody gave a squat or opened their mouths against it. This was just like the crap that some blacks couldn't shave because it caused them to have pimples even though the 'white' doctors on base said it was bs, which meant it would go on for just so long until the barbershop quartet got involved, although those who were about to be shaved were usually unconscious at the time...
If you want to protest something, get it right but be prepared for the consequences. Maybe if someone, like the brother of a veteran who paid the ultimate price for her freedoms, used her face to paint a wall blood red she might get the idea. Maybe if the head of the school board who allows her to continue to insult the sacrifices of those who fought for her freedoms joined her in the wall painting program she might think differently. Or, maybe if that girl were dropped off somewhere without any of her American priviledges or rights she might learn to get up off her ass when the pledge is recited.
There is a time to make a stand but stupidity is no excuse for political correctness. In the Army we would hold blanket parties, or groups of 'people' would make their feelings known to those who showed complete disrespect for the sacrifices of others. What goes around comes around. Next, I am certain we will hear that she was 'assaulted' in the girls locker room or treated roughly on the gym floor, that is if she even chooses to participate in her physical education classes because, as you all know, phys ed was designed by the white teachers and educators and would not apply to blacks or puerto ricans. Hey, you can always send her back to where she wants to be, or where her 'heart yearns for' and let her fend for herself in abject squalor and poverty. Then she would really have something to complain about..... Enough of this crap. If you don't like ti, get the hell out.
