CIA had no intelligence to support the notion that there were chemical weapons in Iraq like those. The history books have been written, and they are saying that Cheney and his chief of staff repeatedly visited CIA, and kept asking the same questions until they got the answers they wanted. Powell's famous testimony was based on that. It's considered one of CIA's biggest fiascos.

The White House has not specified what action barry might take if he determines with certainty that Syria has used chemical weapons. But in its letter to lawmakers, it said it was "prepared for all contingencies.
 
I can't find any definitive information on what chemical weapon was used. But I trust "the government" will act swiftly and decidedly when they do.

Isnt that interesting? Our government is pointing fingers at another country that may or may not have used chemical weapons on insurgents. I dont believe for a minute that our government would hesitste for even a second to use chemical weapons on us if we dared to engage in an insurrection against them.

Isn't it strange the kid in Boston is being charged with using a weapon of mass destruction. Yet Saddam had bigger and more powerful stuff and it wasn't a weapon of mass destruction.

Funny how a pressure cooker bomb in Iraq or Afghanistan is an IED, the same bomb here is a weapon of mass destruction - just word games played by politicians.
 
Who can say if there still isn't some chemical weapons buried somewhere in the wastelands of Iraq?  It's a fact he had them at some time because he used them on his own people.  Is it really logical to think he would have totally abandoned an idea that worked so well the first time?

The only problem is that although barry hates "W" and his policies. He keeps keeping them going, and has drawn the line in the sand about chemical weapons and such.

 If the chemical weapons get too close to Israel, they'll sort it out themselves, and they won't ask permission first. Personally, Syria looks less like a civil war and more like another Muslim Brotherhood takeover...and our tax dollars/weapons are helping! Notice, the Saudi's keep quiet when their enemies are killing each other...they could stop all that madness, "if they wanted to". IMO, of course.
I used to look at things like this U.S. meddling as the insane notion called "Nation Building", (things best left up to the Peace Corp, not military!) but now it seems much more sinister...or just plain incompetent.

Typical politician ploy................Nothing like getting us involved in the problems of others to take our minds off ours.
Like taking our minds off why ..........Honest, tax paying Citizens cannot buy ammo to protect themselves from harm or to enjoy the sport of hunting and shooting.Why the Federal government has their hands in every law on the books especially given to the States.

They don't give one twit about us and the problems we have in this country just getting by day to day, but do care about the rights and lives of others in a country thousands of miles away Let Syria iron out their own problems with  (OIL)  and evil dictators. OK I had to go back and reread this thread to see what I missed. Is it me are we all arguing the same side?

When I saw the headlines, the first thing that came to my head was did the chemical they used come from Iraq. NOT that I thought we should do ANYTHING ABOUT IT WHATSOEVER. Everyone that has posted, that I can tell, is sayin the same thing, differently I guess. Its like a debate team arguing amongst themselves the same argument.

So lets try again. I dont think or care if Syria is gassing their people, or the muslim brotherhood for that matter.

I really dont think "we" especially barry should get involved. like he gives a darn what I think. He says "W" was wrong in everything but goes over and says and  does the same ole stuff. He also keeps doing it! what up wit dat!

I still would like to know if by chance, where did they get the chemical they are using. No way to tell I know, its just my cynical nature to ask the question.

This country can't stop two misguided fools from bombing the Boston Marathon and holding Boston and the area hostage for a couple of days, It sure doesn't have the wherewithall to stop some dom puc, in N korea or the raghead(s) in Syria from doing anything.

That being said, if you read history. A whole lot of people were sayin those exact things before WW2 when adolf was killing the first of six million people in Europe!

We were asked several times by the Brits to join in WW2 to help repel Hitler's forces. Eventually after or own shipping became at risk did we join.
In my mind the difference being in WW2 we were asked to join in an politicians took there time. America finally joined in a brought the might entire might of American industry and war machine to bear. These days politicians half ass things and do not really want to bring the entire might to bear. War would be over alot quicker than just meddling in someone elses affair. If your going to get into the fight, then fight with everything you got. Stop playing around and get it done.

Actually we didn't join to the war until the japs attacked pearl harbor and we declared war on them, then germany declared war on us. of course they had been sinking our ships for quite a while before that.
 
But I get your point and it has been tru since the end of WW2. Korea, Viet nam, and the recent fiascos where all ran by politicians. Never a good thing if you want to win.

What I see is a nominal christian minority fighting against a muslim majority.  When the muslims win, Syria will at best be another Muslim state, and more likely be a tribal system, run by taliban, al quaida, and who knows.   If you can find a winning situation you can see more than I.
