new projectiles stolen!
« on: April 25, 2013, 02:48:42 PM »
I finally made the trip up to huntingtons in oroville, found a box each of 125 gr and 158gr xtps for the .357 Handi for a decent price. put them in the center console of my pick up. last night some puke broke into my truck took the two boxes of bullets my sunglasses my first aid kit and about 12.00 in change. I hope they drop the bullets on their foot try to use the sunglasse as safety glasses and choke on anything they buy with the money! Ok, ranting over.. knew you guys would understand with the shortages and all. thanks, Mike.

Sorry to hear that!  They stole my gps a while back and it's hard to describe the feeling.  The thieves are thick because they know the cops can't/won't do much to catch them.  The system is messed up.

Hope it never happens to you again!

Yea, when we had a break-in the Troopers told us to write it up and turn it in.  They would not even send anyone out to investigate.  Fuel Oil has been the major item this last winter.  Bunch of it got stolen this winter.

A friend came home and saw his Conex open.  Someone had beaten the lock off.  As he got close he realized they were inside.  He quickly closed the door and latched it.  No way to get out from the inside.  No windows or other doors.  He thought about calling the Troopers, but talked to my buddy first.  They decided to get some rubber mallets and take turns beating on the Conex.  Just think if it, here someone is inside a metal box.  Anything hitting that box vibrates like a big steel drum.  The guy inside started screaming, wanting out.  More neighbors were called and they took turns, beating on that conex for hours.  When they finally opened the Conex, they had to go inside and drag the guy out.  He is a known person about town.  They read him the riot act, told him if he ever came back he would be shot on sight.  He would not talk or say anything, so a couple of women took his arm to lead him back inside.  He broke and ran.  He moved we guess, no one has seen him since.

I was inside my Conex one evening, Sky and Josh threw a tire up on the roof, it landed flat.  They questioned my sanity for 20 minutes after that.  I did not, I knew I wanted to rip them apart.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago.  It was about 2 a.m.  I saw the dome light on in the van and saw what I thought was my wife and one of our dogs.  It turned out it was a teenage punk pilfering the van.  I ran him off, but the irony is I had a loaded 12 ga. pump standing by the back door.  It's a good thing I forgot about it because I know I would have shot him and been in real trouble.  Around that time neighbors had problems with lawnmower gas being stolen from sheds and trucks.  Again, the cops did nothing.  We know who it was, but can't prove anything.

A couple of years before that I had a Handi .357 stolen from the barn.

Bobby, not to sound too ignorant or stupid, as far as I know, we don't have 'em or eat 'em either.  I'll second the motion:  What's a Conex?  It must be an Alaskan tin igloo. ::)   I doubt if it is edible.

Pete & Bobby,

conex is one of the  names for the large metal shipping containers they haul on trucks, railcars and ships.  Once they finish their life in the transportation business they are sold for secure storage containers.  See them on lots of constructions sites, on farms etc.

Or make a copy of it on Word, then print it out!?

Been several years, but around the greater Seattle are we had a rash of home-invasions by gang members.  they roughed up and hospitalized some folks, even elderly.  Surprisingly no one was killed!

And all the 'bangers' got caught!
But I wouldv'e armed myself in the house too if I thought it was a good idea..

What about also stashing back-up weapons where needed?
Behind the toilet,
in a book case,
taped under a table, etc.

I live in a low crime area on an island, but i'm not foolish enuff to think that couldn't change.  ;)

OK Guys, A Conex is one of those big shipping containers they use on ships and rail cars to ship goods in.  Fairbanks being the end of the line.  When something comes to Fairbanks in a Conex it cost more to ship the empty container back than it's worth.  So lots of people here in Fairbanks have them in the back as storage units.  I have two.  We hauled one out to the cabin for storage.  Now it does double duty to house the over flow of guest who like to come out there hunting.  But if you are inside and someone hits the side, it's like being inside a drum.

Oh hell you're local! i have met one other guy on here in our area, Gunrunner, he told me of one more. kinda neat to find out there are like minded people around. I checked with the one gun store in lincoln to see if damned theif tried to hawk them to the store. We don't have any pawn shops in town. will try to watch craigslist but i really think it was a druggie or kids. If it was kids they probably gonna use em in a slingshot!

I feel the same way about Oregon but I stay for my grandkids.  At least where you are the deer hunting is good.  I'm not sure why I bother trying anymore.  They're deer but not in the woods, they're all in town...

City slicker deer.  I guess around here the deer don't live in town so they can avoid the city ordinances and extra city taxes. . . ;D

Tony there are probably people (you know, the ones that don't like hunting) in the city feeding those "poor starving deer" so that is where they go and then stay in the shelter belts between neighborhoods and housing developments.

I have seen a commercial about a new show called Chasing Tail about hunters in the suburbs.  I ain't seen it yet.
