.30-30 Ackley Load
« on: April 29, 2013, 03:55:58 AM »
Finally, after dealing with a lot of difficulties such as lack of range time, waiting for components to show up in the market place, etc., I was able to find out the perfect load for my converted .30-30 Ackley Handy:
Nosler BT 125 gr
IMR-4198 33.5 gr
Ojive length: 2.16 inches
Winchester Large Rifle primers

Yesterday I was able to make sub-inch groups with this load.

Determination of velocity will come next.  First I had to develop an accurate load.  I will determine velocity in the coming weeks as time comes available to go to the range.  I will keep you posted.

Mine shoots sub-MOA one shot groups out to 1000 yards with every load that I have tried in it. Feels good to get them running the way they should, eh? I use H4198 for some loads... Mostly with 150 BT's.
