Topper in 22 Jet

How rare is a H&R Topper in 22 Remington Jet? I have one, it is for sale on another site. I am not looking to sell it here but was wondering how common they are. I once saw a barrel box that had 22 Jet as an option, one of the boxes that gets checked off. This is the first one I have ever seen. Shotgunner

Not sure really how rare they are as they were made before I really got into the Handi-Holic club but you do run across them from time to time.
I have one that someone rechambered to 225 Winchester before I got it.
Ammo is out there but will cost you, as all ammo does right now.
I am sure someone like Tim (quickdtoo) will have a better grasp of the rarity of this round in an H&R.
 
One question,
Why not offer it for sale here on GBO?
I for one would be interested in it if the price isn't to far out of range.
In fact, if you do offer it here I would like first chance at it.

The combination rifle/shotgun in 22 Jet was only offered for 2 or 3 years in the mid 1960's.
 
I suspect the production numbers were pretty low on the Jet model.

The BBGV says it was first available in a Model 158 as the 22 S&W Jet in 1963, then from 1964-67 in a 4 in 1 combo with 22 Jet & 30-30 and 410 & 20ga, and 1968-1975 as a Topper Combo 22 Jet/20ga as well as the usual Hornet or 30-30/20ga

No Duh.  I was hoping for some super secret H&R book.  Speaking of books I have seen some old threads speaking of the H&R history book anyone have any updated info.

All I am doing is trying to follow the rules. I used to offer items for sale here, but when I got a FFL it was not allowed. I reload for the 22 Jet as I have a S&W 53, this little carbine would be fun and the woodchucks are up. Looks like it is worth at least $300. Shotgunner

BBGV says the 1963 S&W Jet is valued at $225 in 100% condition, 90% $140, the 4 in 1 Combo with all 4 barrels is valued at $450, 90% $285,  the 2 barrel combo is valued at $350, 90% $225.

I find the Blue Book to be of very limited value. The gun in question is listed on an auction site and was bid to $300 in the first few hours. I sold a Beretta 10ga Silver Snipe for $1,200, the Blue Book had it at $425.  They get it right once in a while but they are way off on most items. eGrant

I think historically it's pretty accurate, problem is right now we're seeing all kinds of crazy prices being paid.

The .22 jet was never a caliber to warm the cockles of my heart.  Perhaps lots of other folks felt the same way.  I'm not a collector, so a rarity means nothing to me.  I prefer time worn calibers such as the .45-70, .38-55. .30-30 and .32-20.  They've been around at least a hundred years.  Flash in the pan calibers come and go.

According to car dealers I try to trade with my cars arent even worth the 'blue book' values.......
And I've seen G.S. 'dealers' whip out that gun book to lowball a trade too, then flip the gun on their table for MUCH more.
Bottom line is that if the price works for you and the seller the 'book' is just spittin' in the wind.

Guns are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. The Beretta story was from a year ago, long before the current craze. Side by Sides are dropping in price, the old guys who liked them are dying off, the younger generation does not appreciate them. Good lever actions are still very strong, WWI and  II guns are through the roof, all this before the politics of the moment. The Blue book is good for looking up what was made when, or for lowballing a seller, not much more. Shotgunner

The gun sold today for $410, including shipping. So much for the Blue Book. It was in 92%-95% condition. Shotgunner
