You and Willie have one thing in common. Looks like you both live in trailers.
You win Mr Universe Trailer Court!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Twoblocked ;
You're right on the mobile home ..wrong on the trailer court. I lived in a neat victorian right next door until a few years ago.  My wife was diagnosed with Parkinsons about 14 years ago..and soon it was apparent the victorian wouldn't do (too many stairs and steps)..so I set a mobile up in a portion of the same property in such a way that there is very little slope to the ramp.  I still own the whole property, but the victorian is virtually unusable to her so our son & his wife live there and he rents out his original home
.  I did consider building in my hunting woods (about  5 miles away), but my wife preferred to stay where we are..  That I did, for what years she has left, and having family in the nearby house comforts her....
It looks like I will be alone in this house soon, but hope to make it to 57th wedding anniversary..also this summer.
Not that you needed an explanation, but since you brought it up...

You are observant in viewing a photo, but you could not have understood my individual circumstance,so I forgive your intended insult...

BTW: I know some folks who do live in retirement trailer parks..and they are nice people.  I even considered purchasing a small, nearby park art one time..before my wife  became ill..

I would think your liberal/progressive "sensitivity" would preclude you from being harshly judgemental of people, based upon their housing choice..

As a human being willie is a  failure! But when it comes to musical talent I know of no one that can touch him.
Took me a while to come to that conclusion. Back in the 1950s I said he was the worst singer I had ever heard and at that time I still think it was true. A friend of mine with more knowledge of Willie than myself said just remember I told you, he is going to be a super star, At the time I thought he was crazy!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
   Cooter;
I don't think anybody here doubts Willie's singing ability..it's good, and I have enjoyed it from time to time.
Did you happen to check the man I linked to?   Wintley Phipps was born in Trinidad-Tobago and has been gifted with a remarkable voice.  I happen to prefer a full-bodied, powerful voice with clearly pronounced words, and Phipps fills that bill.

Here is my favorite singer, singing my favorite song:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW8uD1nvOHs

Most of the time you can't even go by their talent. There are people out there that its all they do is
write music and sell it to these artist. One that would surprise you if you can remember him was
Jackson Brown. Darrel Hannah's ex husband who enjoyed his own successful musical carrier for years.
But was responsible for a lot of the music sung by Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton.
If you have a lot of old vinyl records from the late 70s and 80s if you read on the back of them you
will find Jackson Brown as the writer of a lot of that music both country and rock.

About the only artist we have had in a couple of generations that have written and sang there own music with a lot of consecutive hits has been Stevie Nicks and Pat Benatar. But even Nicks wrote in
conjunction with Tom Petty a lot of times.  Benatar is in the top five artists of all time that have
wrote, produced, and sang their own music. But she was also a highly educated and trained
musician with her roots in opera. I'm talking about individuals not groups if you take in groups then
Pink Floyd pretty well takes the cake even over Led Zeppelin, the Stones, or the Beetles. Floyd was able to do this because I'm talking about a combined effort as a band the other ones had too many things done by members going on their own then coming back.

As with Willie you can't even go by what your hearing, just like with Kenny Rodgers with the advent
of computers where an album is concerned, not in person a lot can be regenerated to sound better.
Benatar, Nicks, and Floyd did not have this luxury when they were making their marks.
Especially Benatar who in a lot of opinions had the finest voice in music there ever was .
Pat if you listen could go from one octave to another at the far ends of those scales while not
missing a beat. Unprecedented up until that time yet attributed to her years of opera experience
then applied to rock. Rindy Ross the lead singer in the group Quarterflash ran a close second also
due to opera training as far as her voice.

Ok what do these two women have to do with Willie Nelson? Plenty, especially Ross. Willie sought out
Ross to help him in a lot of the music he was singing and writing during the 80s and early 90s.
Ross at that time was doing a lot of movie tracks while Benatar was rauseing a child. I will give
Willie credit for being a stand up guy in this regard, during a concert in Dallas TX Willie brought
Ross out onto the stage and gave her credit for a lot of what he had been able to do over the years.
After that to a lot of people's surprise groups like the red hot chilli peppers, the grateful dead,
Carlos Santana, and Rodger Waters of Pink Floyd also gave Ross credit for her help somewhere
down the line. So have a lot of C&W artist, citing like Brown she helped them to write and sing much
of their music. The bottom line is overall it was Rindy Ross who was everything all rolled up into one.

A little woman with a saxophone and a voice to kill for helped Willie and most other artist in the age
of the CD and the computer. Ross never needed a computer she is just plain good or that's what
Willie once said about her. YouTube, search for Quarterflash.

Music overall has gone downhill now days because we no longer have people like Brown, Benatar, or
Ross around to do it for us. Artist rehash their old stuff or each others, or are one hit wonders.
Willie Nelson, and Jerry Garcia from the grateful dead before he died both have said that until opera does whatever it does to produce artist like this we are at a stand still.
No other musical medium trains, educates, or is able to produce people like this. Jackson Brown was
just a natural and never had any formal musical training before his carrier.
Opera produces them and now and then we all get lucky.

Anna is so sensitive today!

It was a joke son
Son? That means she likes me, folks! I've got a song for you, Anna:
[/url]

Hey, hey, mama - said the way you move - gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove!
Oh, oh, child - way you shake that thing... gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting!
Hey, hey, baby - when you walk that way, I watch your honey drip, I can't keep away!

(thanks, Mr Plant)
Quote
besides how many pre employment drug screens have you ever done ?
I've had to undergo the humiliation a couple times, many years ago. Most recent gig? They don't play that - they needed a competent instructor & writer, and the tech world sort of detests that sort of thing.
Quote
What is this attack Anna week ?
Like I said - she's sensitive!
Quote
Typical lib
Yeah, that's me... heh heh heh!
Quote
...if a lib accuses you or eludes to it
She meant alludes to, I think...
Quote
... then
you may want to look into them because they are usually accusing you of things they are doing.
?
Quote
Also Doctor ... And by the way I'm not a medical Doc are you ?
Naw, I'm not a doc, but I do train them on occasion. My GF is the 'doc' in the family (PhD, genetics - she says we'll never 'cure' cancer, those bugs are just too smart, and you only need one)

But you sure did get offensive about that do you have porn mags under
bed? If you do did you get them from Willie or do you just play with your Willie.
See Black Dog quoted above...

Thanks for understanding Two blocked..  We sold our hillside ranch in the country and moved to this small hamlet, hoping to spend the rest of our lives in the gingerbread victorian.. little did we know..  Having family nearby is a comfort for my wife..despite the fact that I was relishing the idea of building a cabin at the edge of my woods..
I fear things are closing in..she has no appetite now..she weighed 113# two weeks ago, day before yesterday it was 104#  ..Docs are puzzled..
Sure, I posted photos but I was challenged..and they were far from being offensive, after all I was wearing my "Grandpa" T-shirt.. and I don't delude myself into thinking I am any kind of Rambo.. those days are long past for me.

Perhaps I do deserve the flack though.. ;) ;D

Up in our end of the state (Buffalo) we have Roswell Park, a well known cancer specializing med center.  Last year a friend was there for 3-4 weeks, and had a growth removed from between pancreas & liver, taking a good share of his liver.
He told me that while he was there,  he was informed that Roswell has a vaccine almost ready to protect against most cancers.  Has she heard anything about that?
Still I know there are often "new remedies" which fade away..

Anna,,,please don't forget Hoyt Axton and his tremendous influence, performances, and writing in Rock, C&W and crossover.. Johnny Winter once had a 4 octave voice and his interpretation of traditional blues scales influenced ALL rock and blues musicians..  Grateful Dead > best psychedelic C &W shuffle band I ever heard..
.
Take a break... here's Willie funnin around with some friends..
.

 .
.
.
....TM7

Hoyt Axton wasn't he of the Patsy Cline era ? I used to read the rolling stone magazine when I could get it. The stuff I posted above I picked up from there and a couple of other music magazines.
I can remember the expressions on the older Europeans the first time they heard Pat Benatar singing.
They didn't understand the lyrics but they freaked out asking who is that?
Especilly when she was singing find another lover. Where her voice was all over the charts with
different and changeing octaves.  Deep tones that could wake the dead then shrill ones that could
break class. She really was talented and she wrote every bit of that music herself .

Nicks was always the discussion about a competition between them but the music sang by the two
was in totally different classes. Nicks was more mystical and poetic where Benatar was more
operatic with a twist. TM7 you have to admit there isn't anything out there today that can
come close to the music back then. You know your getting old when the kids are going wild over
a song some new musician they like is singing their newest release and its something you listened
to 25 years ago. Good grief how many times has Desparado been hashed over!

  Powderman;
Don't be too concerned, because in a larger sense we live this way by choice.  Our fellow posters could not have known my circumstances.. and "property prestiege" is not and never has been a concern with me.
One of the common symptoms of Parkinsons is a sense of insecurity (look it up).  Some experience it very little but my wife has a sizable helping of it, and wants to stay in our small village..close to loved ones.  Sure, I could easily buy another home and pay cash for it, but this arrangement works best for us.  If the Lord decides I must spend years alone..what would I do with a full size house? I have my garden right behind my house and my blacksmith shop just a hundred steps away..works good for me!
Parkinson's is a strange malady, things could be close..or she could make a couple years yet.  Doctors are setting up aconference call early this comoing week.  We celebrated her 75 BD yesterday.. hey that makes her 's & Willie's BDs just about 5 days apart..
My choice was not financial, but  a comfort choice for my wife..for those who doubt I would quote an old preacher I knew years ago who was falsely accused of a minor transgression; he said....
" For those who only want to hurt me no explanation will do, for those who truly know me no explanation is needed." ;)
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

My apologies to other posters for boring them with my concerns, but I felt a need to clarify..

Ironglow, I'm sorry to hear of your wife's situation. I know just a little of what she is going through as I watched my Dad's frustration with it.

The trailer thing was just a cheap shot, pure and simple. Low class thing to say for sure.

Back to the OP: Willie is a hell of a guitar player, not so good as a human being. Don't care for his voice at all. Makes me think of a squalling tomcat.

I don't have much to say about Willie other than i liked some of the movies he did in the 70's-early 80's, don't remember their names so i guess they were'nt all THAT good ;D. Good to hear he's still pluggin along.

On the trailer subject, a good friend of mine moved from a nice house in a nice neighborhood(N.C) to just over the state line(S.C.). He purchased 30 acres and had a doublewide towed in for about the same amount of money he had in his urban home. A no brainer in my opinion 8)

I'm curious to know... what things in particular about Willie's character rates that judgement/description? Is he unkind? Uncaring? Does he mistreat people who work for him? What?

OLDANDSLOW. Don't bite friend. POWDERMAN.  ;) ;)

Is P-Man still pushing his personal do not talk with Yellowtail3! campaign? so petty...

The question re: Willie Nelson's character still stands: is he a man of poor character, and how so? Some famous performer types really are rotten humans Frank Sinatra was tremendously talented, with a great voice and knack for interpretation, but he was not a good man -  examples of his cruelty, pettiness, and occasional violence are legion & well known. Can something similar be said of Willie Nelson? If yes, provide some documentation? I've not heard it. Anyone here have anecdotes, positive or negative?
(beware that replying might disappoint Powderman)

Comments about trailer trash only makes me wonder why they would know so much about that.
Then how it is possible that they have avoided mateing with a tornado all these years?
I've never lived in a mobile home but some of them I've seen were extremely nice and so were the
owners. Coming back at us about what we say about Willie saying we don't know what we are talking
about or are being insensitive. Isnt that the same as lumping all mobile home dwellers into one
category as being stupid bubbas? Hypocrisy runs wild on the left and they seem to dog pile on
someone like they lack the ability to think independently.

Like an insect collective but aimed only at discrediting or humiliating a person they don't agree with.
And this will draw them out just watch, they will feel they all have to get their two cents in as who is
the funniest with the best put down. I've yet to see a single one of them apologise on this site for
being wrong. And it does no good to try and befriend one of them they are not your friend.
They may give you a pass on something but only to come back at you at a later time.
Or the original libtard drops out of the convertation and hands the insult baton off to one of their buddies. To be honest I've never seen a site before where that was tolerated no matter how much
the liberal tried to explain their attacks as only commenting. Oh they know how to insult alright but
they do it in a way as to cover their tracks or hand it off to another member.

They will walk up to the line of saying to much then lean over that line. They do not give a rats a** about Willie Nelson its only an opportunity to make trouble. Everytime they do this its always in
defense of the subject matter or the person in question. All about that persons rights and the respect
we should be showing them or for the lifestyle that person seems to live. Where you here have no rights or deserve any respect no matter what the occasion. We have all seen here what happens
to someone who is on the right or a Christian if they try that. Or if they attempt to defend themselves no one comes to their aid like that. Is that only because those here who are on the right try to play
by the rules? Or is there a double standard that we haven't been told about?

The left rules over these message boards whether you think they do or not. Or there would not be
such a disproportionate number of them here like there is. They can say anything they want or
accuse and insult people without any fear of retaliation. I've seen them make rude comments about
people's family's or loved ones forcing the effected member to take a defensive posture but its always that members fault even if they didn't start it. A destructive lifestyle of alcoholism and drug abuse is
not only condoned its defended, where anyone's right to not agree with things like that is attacked
and that person is ridiculed. Try to defend your honor or that of your loved ones and you are labeled
a trouble maker even if you had nothing to do with starting the fight. Those who did start it will get
a free pass everytime just look at what happened to Bugeye. It was always his fault no matter
what. But of course he was a conservative Christian wasn't he ?

We certainly can't have any of that going on around here now can we ?
