They're screwing over this poor kid, because of a little smoke in the chemistry lab. Charging her with FELONIES. What the hell is wrong with this country?

Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Absolutely nuts.  This girl had a lab accident.  She didn't build a bomb, she had a beaker full of stuff blow up in a chem lab.  It happens.  Charging her for detonating an explosive device is a clear indication of the lack of common sense that seems to be ruling the day.  I'm not sure what you mean by the title of the thread, maybe I'm missing an inside joke or a running commentary with someone else.  What I'm not missing is that this is just nuts.

If I was a kid in high school these days, I would be absolutely invisible and off the radar.  They are looking at anything and everything as a terroist plot or right wing gun loving view.  And when you don't apply yourslef in school and stay off the raqdar, you don't learn to express your self and try new things.  Schools these days, are in a nut shell, nothing more than holding areas for kids while their parents are at work.  I dont see any indication that children are benefiting a better education than if they were home schooled.

I used to think that home schooling was wrong because the child was not exposed to team building fundementals and social experiences that come with interacting with others outside of the family.  But, it has become quite apparent that trying new things, stepping into the spotlight, interaction with others, and so forth does nothing but get you into trouble in a public schol system.

It's stories like these that feel very fortunate that I dont have kids.  I would not be able to hold back from lashing out at the idiotic things that happen in public schools.  I would probably be in some serious trouble had this been my child.
It's all a hot mess...........

To expel a child that has NO record at school is crazy! Detention, 3 day even 5 day yes is cool. But to STOP this child from going to school all together or graduating with her peers is to damn much!

I agree, In my day she may have been sent to the principle and  punished, but then it aint in  my day.  Kids are arrested for having NRA on a Tshirt, and such.

Its a world I wouldn't I recognise if I woke up from a coma after a few years.

Actually, when my younger brother did it, they sent him to the hospital.  No police were involved, just Dr's picking bits of glass and stuff out of his hands and face.  He wears a beard these days.  Course, that was '63.  Today...
