Tell me about the Browning B-78

:D
I have no experience with a B-78 and was looking for some info on
them.  Accuracy, trigger, reliability, ect.  How do they differ from newer hi-walls and low walls?

the b78 was made for 10 years starting in 1973.  they were made with a higher grade of wood, some were extremely beautiful.  from my experience( i have 6), they are, as a whole, accurate while some are extremely accurate.  the trigger is adjustable.  they came with either an octagon or heavyish round barrel.  22250, 6mm, 243, 25-06, 30-06, 7mm mag, and 45-70.  they differ from the new high/low walls in that they had nicer wood, the serial number was not crudely stamped on the side of the action, they had a different trigger mechanism, the trigger was not gold colored but silver, and they had a polished grip cap.  they are very fine rifles and as reliable as any rifle made.

I have the B-78 in 25/06. It has a finely tapered 26" octagon barrel. The wood is absolutely georgeous by any standard. This will be the last gun I ever have if I have to begin to eliminate anything. Its my Sunday rifle used for special occasions when the weather is good and I know I`ll be hunting at long range. It is equipped with a Leupold  M-8 6X 42mm scope  and Browning braided horse hair sling. No need for a variable its for distance work and does so with accuracy on a consistant basis. Best of luck. I had a B-78 back when I was in high school (late 70's), it was a 7mm mag.  The wood was great and the checkering was really nicely done.  It was a great rifle and I shot the fire out of a lot of deer with it for a few years.  I sold it to help finance my college education.  I am not certain that it was a good choice.

The 78 was different from the original high wall internally and it had no top tang from which to mount a vernier type sight.  It is a nice rifle that shoots very well.
