I'm in Cambria County but work out of Altoona for the RR! Juniata is right across the road with the JBS Shops lol Small world!




As for the 30-30 I would definitely shoot it before I starting mutilating it haha I think all in all I would probably end up cutting it anyhow just for the shorter "stow and go" (Whats the wait line look like for the .30cal reamer?)

Mifflin County chiming in, go with the 30-30 shoot plain old 150gr win pp,they will do everything your asking for, now when you decide to reload i use nosler 125gr bt's and h335, i've shot these out as far as 300yds they hold around 1.5in groups or better if i do my part

I was at my local wally word today and had to go by and check out the ammo inventory. Pretty much bare here in n. Illinois. lots of shot gun shells 3 boxes of .243 one box of .270 and a bunch of boxes of 30-30 shells. something to consider if your building a custom rifle and dont reload. Rick

I am having some second thoughts on caliber... The Bull Barrel .243 is looking really nice too for a project as such... But My Walmart has the same stock pile.. TONS of 30-06, 12 gauge .270.. some .308 Federal Fusion ($27/20rnds) and mixed availability of .243/30-30. The 30-30 is definitely the more "In Stock" caliber but .243 is a sweet caliber too haha... Iron sights on the 30-30 might be the winning factor here.
