huntsman barrel on H&R topper receiver?
« on: May 07, 2013, 06:30:25 AM »
I have a huntsman barrel originally purchased as an accessory barrel for an SB2 frame.  However, I don't like using the huntsman barrel on this receiver because it makes the receiver dirty and my main use for this rifle is my .223 Rem coyote hunting gun.
So, I picked up a model 098 Topper Deluxe with nickel plated receiver with the hope of putting my huntsman barrel on it so I wouldn't have to disassemble my coyote rifle and get it all full of burnt muzzleloader powder.
My huntsman barrel fits on the receiver like a glove and locks up like snug.  Being a muzzleloader barrel I can't imagine there's any problem using it with the Topper receiver - no headspace or pressure issues.  The 12 ga. topper and huntsman would use the same primer.
Is there anything I am overlooking?  Any potential pitfalls of using the huntsman barrel on the Topper receiver?

I don't own a Topper receiver, but if I remember correctly, the Topper is a up graded shotgun receiver.
If that's the case, you shouldn't have any problems with the Huntsman barrel on the topper receiver, other than the normal barrel fitting properly onto the receiver.  But you already said that the barrel "fits like a glove", so just go out and enjoy!

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

The huntsman barrel is available as an accessory barrel on a SB1 frame.  My Sidekick is shortened version of the SB1.
