Saying republican hold extra marital affairs in high regard because they voted for a guy is about as silly as saying they hold gay people in high regard because one works at the restaurant you select to eat at.  ::)

Garbhead, You are misinformed my friend.  Dealers at gun shows are under the same Federal obligation to fill out all the same forms and run a NICS as if they were in their own store.

You can not buy a gun from a dealer at a gun show without going threw the legal process.   This is an outright fairy tail that the liberal media keeps pushing.

yeah, brett, but you know what they want... they want ALL of us to have to undergo background check whenever we buy ANY gun, ANYWHERE - with felony penalties for failing to say, 'mother may I?'

further marginalization of gun ownership/more inconvenience designed to drive folks out... kind of like they did w/FFLs in the 90s
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Won't go that far. What's the first thing you do to your enemy to render him incapable of waging
war? You cut off his logistics namely ammunition , fuel, then food.
So what if your enemy still has his guns, make it to where he can't shoot them .
Fill his airwaves with propaganda through his own media. Then sit back and watch what he is talking
about giving himself and his intentions away. Take out a school or a public place, but don't make it
look like you had anything to do with it. They will start to turn in on themselves and never
realize that you have them in a siege.

Fact:  Sanford is a jerk..but evidently the voters of SC preferred his policy positions over Colbert Buschs'..

I think the introductory statement is a perfect example of Leftist.."twist and spin"...that's a gentle way of saying LYING...
  Conservatives don't like crippling EPA regulations, so the radical left says;

  A) Conservatives want dirty water..

  B) Conservatives want to poison children...

      If we were to use the same method of propagandizing as the Lefties, we could say silly things like;

  A) Hillery pulled the Marine guards in Benghazi..so the ambassador & aides could more easily be killed.

  B) Bill Clinton only took the office of president, so he could soil the front of ditzy girl's blue dresses.

  C) The Obama administration sold thousands of assault rifles to cartel gangs, so as to have an excuse to destroy our 2nd amendment.

Oops!  Put a hold on suggestion C)..     That one looks to be very plausible..

My "friend" I know that dealers run background checks at gun shows. I'm talking about people walking around inside carrying multiple weapons for sale, along with people with booths inside who are NOT dealers and people hanging around outside. When's the  last time you went to one?

I've been to a lot of gun shows and I know what will happen to a non FFL vendor who tries to sell guns at his booth at such a show. He will find himself quickly shut down and taken away for a long and very serious "discussion" with federal employees who will be arranging for "housing" for him for quiet a while. And these fellows will bankrupt anyone who tries to fight them in court, particularly if their case is a little weak. I've seen it happen. But the media and the socialistdemolibs would have you believe otherwise so they keep promoting that lie....."tell it long enough and loud enough and they will think it's true".

As for sales between private individuals.........that should not be any of the governments business, period! But you come across sounding like one of those bleeding hearts who think the government should control everything!

Which is kinda weird when you think about it. Gun related deaths have dropped by about 50% over the past twenty years, while gun ownership during the same period rose expotentially, and at the same time non murder related gun crime went down even more! Sounds to me like more guns in the hands of citizens is a good thing and this whole "background checks" issue is just another attempt by the left to grab more control, using a recent tragic incident as an excuse.........a "wag the dog" attempt! Nothing more.

Absolutely, and these people take that mark of their own free will. If you don't you may die.
So what I have faith I know where I would be going after that. Libs don't understand its not about
me its about what a can do for others while I am still here.
What, you want to live forever? Put up with all this mess and rude drivers way beyond your years?
Not me I have a one way ticket to paradise the ultimate vacation spot.
No cruise ship food poisoning or lost baggage. No TSA pervert groping.
And no Obama mania on the television set, in fact I won't even need a TV or a cell phone anymore.
No hunger or thirst, no gravity thank goodness, no stopped up pipes with plumbers whose crack
moons you when they bend over.
No taxes, no lawyers needed, no rigged elections, no bad hair days, won't need a car, no computers.
No clock watching time will become irrelevant and I won't need make up or hair dyes.
All this for the simple down payment of believing. Gonna go one day anyway so why don't we all
book a place at this resort? See you there unless of course your late or didn't pray in your
reservation.

Here in Va. you can rent a table at gun shows and sell off a personal collection. Often I see guys doing so here in Va. Some will do so at several shows in a row until they have sold out. Of course there are a few that sell other stuff and will have "private" gun for sale. But if you show up show after show selling different guns expect a visit from the ATF.

I do wish someone could explain how restricting lawful gun owners more will keep unlawful crooks from getting guns ?
Makes about as much sense as thinking a speed limit sign will reduce drag racers on the road.
I know when the penalty for racing on the road went up a bunch of us quit . Maybe if the punishment for having an illegal gun or using a gun in a crime went up .................

A) Most crimes committed by illegally owned guns, are perpetrated in our large cities.

 B) Drive-by murders are occuring every day in our larger cities.

 C) There are already 20,000 gun laws on the books.

 D) How many more laws will it take to stop these murders?

 E) It is the big city mayors such a Bloomberg in New York and Rahm Emanuel of Chicago who are most demanding of NEW anti-gun laws.

 F) If these people are most demanding of anti-gun laws; they must be diligently using and applying the laws they already have.

 G) So, let's see how they are applying the 20,000 laws they already have at their disposal:
     http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2013/03/28/chicago-los-angeles-new-york-prosecuted-fewest-federal-gun-crimes

Do we smell a nest of gun-grabber rats?

True or false...The Democrats have joined together to destroy our constitution and freedom, and the 2nd amendment is the first point of attack ?

I thought we were talking about background checks at gun shows, not just by the FFL dealers but by anyone who wants to buy a gun inside a gunshow from non-FFL sellers there. Is that hard to understand? A million new laws won't stop the criminal anyway, just prevent them from openly buying one inside there from a non-dealer...Have a check-out door that buyer and seller go to before the sale is finalized. That wouldn't inconvenience anyone much would it? Usually takes 5-min for my FFL guy to call me in and authorize.

Honest people know right from wrong and don't violate laws anyway, so why not just eliminate all the laws? What would change? Lots of "borderline" people who could go either way? Like old saying that door locks were made to keep honest people out.

So the involved parties move their transaction to the parking lot, back alley or one of their kitchens instead of making the exchange in the gun show.   The only thing I see this law leading to is a national registry which in turn will eventually lead to confiscation.  If we fail to learn from history history is destined to repeat its self.

I consider strangers to be friends until they prove otherwise or decline the offer of friendship.  I got the impression that you were declining the offer.   Sorry if I was mistaken.

You will find that that concept was spawned in the Bush administration

Ah!!!! Another one who tries to lay the blame on another administration by not telling the whole truth!

Operation Wide Reciever was indeed a product of the Bush administration. HOWEVER...it was done with the blessing/cooperation of the Mexican government and was found to be lacking and stopped because of it.

Then the Obbee administration drags out a known "fail" and dusts it off and puts it in gear while keeping the Mexican ignorant of the carnage they are unleashing on that country.

But then you knew this didn't you? You just hoped not to get called on it.

I wasn't blaming anyone, just pointing out the fact of when it was started. What it evolved into or how it ended up no doubt is the responsibility of Oblama administration. I'm not here to take up for him either as I am very disappointed in him.

I still don't know how anyone in their right mind would want to be president in 2008 anyway, considering the state of our country at the time. Others with better credentials would have no doubt been the better choice , but none of them were running.

Really? Then your post was pointless and not related to the discussion.

As another poster said in another thread.. Those who want guns will get guns and those who normally disregard the law will continue to do so.  The authorities can't even keep prisoners in prison from obtaining guns.. so the politicians who push such legislation are obviously concerned only with taking guns from the law abiding citizen!!!

Don't you just know for sure.. that the crazies like Holmes, Lanza and the Columbine idiots will obey that sign!

Ok then , if it wasn't already in existence in Jan 20, 2009, what would the chances be that Obama would have created it on his own?  Kinda like Kennedy finding out about the Bay of Pigs invasion plans the day after he was inaugurated....then when it goes south, he's blamed for the whole thing.

AH! So you were trying to make a point?

In which case your point was lost because it was indeed not in "existence", prior to the Obbee administration using a proven failed tactic which the previous administration realized didn't work and stopped it. And which had already been pointed out to you, but you keep trying to beat that dead horse. It's not going to work. The horse was dead....the Obbbee administration tried to revive it, it didn't work, and people died because of it.

And of course there is the obvious stupidity of the Obbee administration trying known "FAIL" again.

Any difficulty with that concept?

Ummmm..A little correction in order  here..
I don't know who your history teacher was, or if you memory needs jogging, but that's not the way the Bay of Pigs deal came off.  JFK was told of the plans well before his inauguration..presumably, shortly after his election.  He could have cancelled the plan at any time from then on until April 17, 1961, but he didn't do it.  Instead he approved the plan in February, 1961.
He didn't cancel the venture until 1,400 expatriate Cubans were engaged in fighting on the beach, with 100 already dead.  He had Marines on the ships offshore, but refused to send them in.  Instead, he backed our ships and planes out...and left.

The criticsm at the time was not that he canceled the invasion, but that he waited until there were 1,500 fighting men engaged on the beachead..when he pulled our Navy out..  The present commander of my legion post was aboard one of those ships, ready to go over the side into landing crafts.  He says a lot of Marines were outraged...and he's a diehard Democrat..

  Here's how the Kennedy library tells it;

We've come a long way since 98! :) ;) ;D 8)

I wouldn't doubt this one bit 2B. Republicans, the party that first started pandering to the Mexican
male macho of having several mistresses on the side.
Obama is only using what Bush was already putting in place as far as illegal immigration.
Its was Romney who was all for these shady staffing agency's who import the very cheap labor
thats hurting the rest of us.

And they were doing this long before Bill Clinton. Who by the way was dragged kicking and
screaming by the Republicans in Congress to the table to sign NAFTA and GAT. Saying that this legislation would only serve to hurt the American worker. Well now looky here but don't blame Bill.
An administration that saw the highest rate of sustained growth and employment in over 6 years.
Bush one ruined everything that Reagan had accomplished and it was Reagan who also handed out
the biggest amnesty ever seen at the protest of the Democrat party.

Bush one, passed the biggest gun control legislation we've seen since. Bush two with the Brady bill,
not saying no I will not extend it, but if it reaches my desk then I will sign it.
Or that monkey in the headlights look when he was informed about 9-11. Sorta like he was thinking
imagine that! Not shocked thinking OMG, no he just smirked and continued reading to those kids,

"OMG Anna is a liberal "! No I have no party I am of the Jesus party and one of the things Jesus was
,was fair. He called it as it was not how people wanted him too.

Well your right it was along with Reagan he didn't do it all by himself. It was the class three weapons
ban and its why we now pay ridiculous prices for a worn out MP5 that even the cops wouldn't
want anymore.  >:(
