Could it be the opponent was just that lousy?

So lousy that Republicans were forced to hold their noses and vote for the better candidate?

Looks like the Democrats need to do a better job nominating a future candidate, huh?

Maybe Pelosi and company should stay away from S.C. politics. Southerners seem to have a problem with what they consider carpet bagging Yankees.

Better luck next time. Maybe Bloomberg and his cash could have turned the tide, or maybe he would be wasting carpet bags of cash too.

What is funniest about this is when he acknowledges and apologizes for a big mistake, when the "mistake " is standing right behind him. Great for her self-esteem...Only reinforces the fact that the one with deepest pockets will most often win. I actually thought Colbert-Bush was a pretty good candidate.

Thats why this country is on it's way down. Doesn't seem like much moral standard around. Rep. or Dem. Seems to me that something similar to this happened to a major city,a few thousand years ago, and it crashed and burned. gypsyman

Nope...  What Sanford did is still reprehensible.. but at a final count of  55% vs 45%,  it must not be only Reps who voted for him.. ;)

In the interest of "fair & balanced", you condemn Dems who still like the Clintons ?

One old boy from South Carolina put it quite succinctly:
Bruce Davis, 73, of Mount Pleasant, voted Sanford “because Obama’s agenda is worse than Sanford’s mistakes.” he said.

Let's face it, any  vote for a Democrat for a national office ..is a vote to grab our guns..   Do you want to be an accomplice to that?

Nothing new here! Same old rodeo. Republican voters vote Republican. Democrats vote Democrat.
Makes no difference what they do.The average party voter will hold their nose and vote for them. The nature of the beast. :o

  It doesn't appear quite that simple NW; in an article in the Charleston City Paper, in an article entitled;
" Colbert Busch has remained mum about her positions", ...we get the following information..information which was likely known  by locall people:

" However, a recent Bluffton Today report notes that at a recent Democratic Party gathering of the Beaufort County Democrats, Colbert Busch declared that she was "pro-choice and supports same-sex marriage" and believes in universal background checks for guns and some sort of amnesty for America's undocumented illegal immigrants. While it is all well and good for Colbert Busch to differentiate herself from her primary opponent Ben Frasier in front of a non-hostile audience at a Democratic candidate's forum, they do not actually speak to any ideas about how to implement the policy. They are merely talking points.
Most disturbing is that her campaign is actually perpetuating this dearth of information on the issues and her past political leanings. They seem content to let others do most of the talking for the candidate, and most of the talking centers on anything and everything other than policy. The national press seems fixated on the Colbert family, particularly Stephen, and the campaign apparently sees nothing wrong with this. "

King David was one of the most respected rulers in the Bible yet his home was a mess. He had a child by an African woman not his wife.
It may be that many in SC hold his ability to represent then in high regard not his sin. Or it could be the lessor of two evils.
But isn't it best to allow God to judge him ?

Hey! It worked for Klinton!

Sandford......."The Cumback Kid"

Better a former philandering republican than a socialistdemolib!

And once again, the republicans asked it's party member to vote for a lesser of two evils candidate! Only this time...they pull through for em! ;D

I say, congrats to Mr Sanford - you go, bro!!

he was a much better choice than the Dem alternative. I'd give a rat's posterior about his past scandal
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

From Ironglow:

If a convicted felon does that, he's already breaking several laws..so are more laws the cure?

No just something to prevent him from doing it at a gunshow. He can still buy one in an alley or parking lot somewhere, just need to cut off all avenues for him to get armed. I'm not anti-gun I prob have more guns than you do...

The best thing I saw about Colbert-Bush was the fact that she didn't sugar-coat the accusations against Sanford and his spending tax-payer money on his trips to Appalachia err.....Argentina   .... We don't need any more sleezebags in Washington...we have plenty now

Sanford has paid a price for his "sins" A divorce the loss of his job. Scorn by his constituants and the Country. I think he has two sons, That would kill me. We don't even give life sentences for some murderers.  ::)  If he is a good Man in the job, he's better than a gun grabbing leftist Democrat. Lets see. The people of SC think he is worth it. When we start electing Reps based on their morals Washington is gonna be a ghost town.

I believe you hit the nail on the head OS..
I tend to think most people who vote for a Democrat, Republican, Green or Tea Party candidate, do so because they either agree generally with the candidate or at least agree with that candidate much more than with his/her opposition.
Sure, some take the stupid route, voting by party alone .. they are the LIV contingent..
Let's get this much straight ..there is NO perfect or person in this world, say nothing about somebody who has been for years, in the dirty game of politics.

If we simply withold our vote until the perfect candidate comes along (which isn't going to happen)... we are just witholding from ourselves, the citizen's right to participate in our constitutional rights.

What's wrong with a ghost town? Get rid of them all!
We don't have to wait for the perfect candidate. No one is perfect, but there are people in America that honor the Constitution, honor their marriage vows, believe that a country without borders is in fact............Not a country,(DONT) believe in the FED, the UNITED NATIONS, believe the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed (NO PART OF IT PERIOD). There are people that will put the good of the country first. They just don't exist in any kind of numbers in DC. Either side of the isle. I would venture to say a good 90%  of voters(perhaps more) vote strictly for the party. Most of them will never come out and say they do, but  ::) they do.  I know I did for many years. (I'm a slow learner) That kind of thinking is what gives us people like John McCain, or Nancy P, and keeps giving.  These two are  good example of this virus that effects us.

Some believe to be a good citizen we have to vote for someone. Even if there are none worthy of a vote. That's the problem! We have been doing it, and look where it's brought us.
