Brass forearm spacer
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:30:59 AM »
A while back i posted about a friend that was making one for me.

Well he finally got to it between making knoves and wood bowls.

He dropped it off this morning. Looks really good but the fit isnt quite right so i may not leave it on. But i did want to show it off a little. I like it.

Joe, It looks good if you could get him to make more and maybe some in steel I'm sure they would sell.  I know I would be in the market for more than one.

I took one off of a fore arm that I had loose and tried it against several different sockets just now.  It comes very close to fitting up to one that measures 1.15" in diameter - that would make the radius .575".  I had a guy who swore he was really interested in CNC machining trigger guards and spacers - sent him pictures, measurements, even a spare trigger guard.  He completely disappeared - stopped anwering my emails, never returned the trigger guard I sent him, etc.  I should have some drawings that I started for that - I'll dig around on my PC and see if I have anything useful - most were more like rough sketches but I might be able to clean them up a bit to be more useful. I really, really want a set of brass for my .45 Carbine....

With a brass buttplate and triggerguard (modified muzzleloader/shotgun type) from Track of the Wolf it would complete the theme. At least you have one, even if it doesnt fit perfect.
Im thinking of taking up alchemy to be able to turn the factory plastic into 'gold' and make my fortune here  ::) .
