My MR is circa 1976/77. I did not buy it new. I have sold almost all my sidelocks, including all those i bought new. So the only two I have left I did not buy new (CVA MR and custom long range TC Hawken w/3 barrels, both locks & acessories).
I've posted what is known to be fact about the MR several times on various forums, including the story about the barrels on the MR's marked "Made in USA". Steve Chapman is my source, the gent who fished. hunted, shot black with and hung out in the home shop of Don Kammerer (who passed away 1997). Don is the gent who designed/built the prototype MR for CVA and went to Spain for CVA with Dave Silk (CVA Pres) to teach them how to make the barrels for the MR's. So in a nutshell... the prototype had a Dougas barrel (because Don was a fan of Douglas barrels), but ALL the production barrels were Spanish made starting from the get go of the MR's sold to the public (including all those marked "Made in USA" circa approx 1975/76-1977/78). Some people don't want to accept that, ACE's that go on and on about Douglas. Sharon, and other possible barrels on them passing on what they heard from another ACE. They can't prove any of it with any confirmable source. Steve was the closest you could get to the horses mouth. He was actually there at ground zero when all this took place, so his story is the one I will run with.
There will not be any books about TC Contender's, sidelocks OR CVA's from me. I wrote my book well over 20 years ago (about a much longer lifelong specialty). So old posts on forums about any of those subjects by me... and others who actually lived it is all there will be unless somebody else takes on the book task (necchi is one of them BTW). My data base was a lot of work and done for my own uses... they will not be handed down. But much of them had been shared for many years by answering questions on-line to try to help the folks asking and any others who read it. I seldom take the time to respond to them publicaly now days since it's already been said, and I get real tired of PM's for same that help only one person.
