.22 lead BB's Question
« on: May 09, 2013, 12:06:23 PM »
I have a Benjy NP Nitro Trail in .22 caliber and was wondering if it is safe to shoot lead BB's in .22 caliber  Since there is no skirt on these, do they seal enough to prevent damage to rifle?

I've used lead bbs in my .177 with complete satisfaction. Now if you are talking about using bbs for a .177 in a .22 I think you're wasting your time. If you have proper diameter round balls for the 22 then go for it they should work fine.

Yes,
I have used them in my Full auto BB gun and they will go through  a 6 pack of canned soda, where the steel BB stops after the second can.

Good. I'll let you know how they work. They do seem to fit snug enough in the chamber to be safe but I had never seen a 22 caliber BB before!

22 round ball works fine, hits hard, but in general lacks the accuracy of skirted pellets.

I really don't know about the use of them in gas-ram guns but it's a bad idea to use round balls in springers. Once the ball engraves the rifling there's little resistance between the projectile/bore, allowing "piston slam."
