When I was a kid, the mod 99 was what I though a rifle should look like. Even had a plastic model of one. I'm getting long in the tooth now and I've never even shot one! I held one once, liked it but by that time I was a full blown bolt shooter.

MY wife inherited one in 243, I'm looking into trying to get it rebarreled. No luck so far.

Why rebarrel? If it is shot out you may find it easier to get the barrel bored out to the next size up , IE either 260 Rem or 7mm08.

That may be an option but she may not want to mess with it . It has sentimental value since it was her mother's rifle. i look at it different, and wanna get it usable. I prolly dont have the last word on this one!
