Son Graduated Today
« on: May 12, 2013, 06:37:30 PM »
my son graduated today from University Of Alaska Fairbanks.  Bachelors Degree in Biology.

He has already started his Masters program.  He has been working in the LAB doing research on Huntington's Disease for the last year.  They are working at the cell level.  Everything is done under a microscope, and that is special work for a biologist.  He was the only undergraduate working on the project.  He saw a direction the program needed to go, but was not scheduled to go in that direction.  He checked with the professor, she agreed, and he applied for a grant to do that work.  He got a grant for work during the summer, and another one to continue work next year.  These grants were not from the government, they are from private industry.  And this research will go towards his Master's Degree.  He has been invited (expenses paid) to an awards program this June at UCLA.

He's one happy young man, and his Mom and I are one set of proud parents.

Oh yea, since the names were published last Friday, he has been called by the Navy and the Air Force Recruiters.  He told them "No Thanks".
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Grand news.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

It is refreshing news, congratulations to the grad and his "support team"!
