You're already shooting a .308. While it's not an nasty kicker, there are only a few Handi's that kick more and lots that kick less. Don't sweat it. Get the barrel(s) you want and go from there. If you don't like the recoil, do as Tim said and get the Limbsaver. You can get a slip-on to remove when shooting the lighter loads and put back on with the heavier. It ain't rocket science.
You know, myself and lots of others here have found it best to set up each barrel on it's own dedicated, frame, scope, stock set and recoil pad as a complete rifle. It takes the guesswork out of it and gets optimum performance and it is ready to go when you are. It costs a bit more, but is worth it in the long run. It's not necessary to do overnight. I've been at it for about six years and am still refining things.
