How Many Sigs are here
« on: May 14, 2013, 05:19:11 PM »
I have seen on other sites here where people are listing what ______ guns they have.
I am a Sig fan and was just wondering how many here are sig fans too.
What I would like to do is have you list what you have and caliber and then let's keep a runing tally of caliber and quantity
P230 (380) , P229 (9mm) P226 (9mm) P226 (40) P2340 (40),  P220 Sport (45), and a P220 22LR conversion kit
Total 6
380 -1
9mm -2
40 S&W -2
45 - 1
Conversion 22LR -1

SP-2340 and a P-239 both are chambered in .40S&W . I traded away a P 225 K-kote in wonderful condition last summer, I rarely shot it and knew someone would appreciate it more than I.

I still find myself lusting for a folded slide P-220 .45 and even more so lately, a P-232 two tone.

I only have one. It's a P245 - 45acp. I looked for a reasonably priced P226 - 9mm but gave up and bought something else.

The earlier SIGs used a folded sheet metal construction as opposed to a milled stainless slide. If you look closely you can recognize the welds that hold it all together. They are somewhat lighter as well. German construction is a bonus.

I have less issue with the slide material as with the damnable rail that generally lurks under the stainless slide models.

I have two stainless steel slide models wth out the rail.  The P226 and the P229.
Is that folded slide Sig the same as the Browning BDA's?

Well that was certainly informative ;D .

Everything not milled stainless would be a folded slide. If it is blued, K kote, nickel plated they would all be folded. It is the original German type construction. The BDA Brownings would certainly be folded type.

Not certain but I don't think any of the US made SIGs are not milled stainless. There are some US assembled from German parts.

You would know one when you see it. I'm pretty sure it can't be nitroed like stainless.

Looking at my West Greman 226 I can clearly see mill marks where the slide started out as a solid block.

I also have NO USE for the rail on any handgun, I will carry a extra water bottle bumper jack impact wrench etc. etc in my back pocket leave them off of a handgun.  Jim

It could well be, I'm not so up on all things SIG, to begin a history lesson. If you come across either a P 225 or P6 they will be the style I reference. Stainless wont take glueing, so if your gun is blued it obviously is not stainless and would be the folded sheet steel slide model.
