Hi All,
I have in my possession a very nice shape S&W topbreak nickel plated revolver chambered in 44 Russian. The S/N is 42** and the cylinder and frame numbers match. Gun has the original grips. The action is single action/double action and per some information published by Tafflin it would date between 1881 to 1913.
Questions
Can the gun's date of manufacture be determined form the S/N?
During the time frame of this guns manufacture was factory 44 Russian ammo ever made with cordite (smokeless) powder?
thanks
BB
