Barrel Accessory Program - Receiver date cutoff?
« on: May 20, 2013, 03:24:43 PM »
I called H&R and spoke to a woman on the phone to inquire about barrel availability.  The receiver in question is an SB1 frame from a 12ga Tracker with a NK serial prefix.  She told me that she could not fit a barrel to it because it was too old.  I told her the website says that any receiver with a N prefix can be fit.  She said because its a NK, its too old.  She said the receiver was produced in 1996 and the receiver had to be newer than 1999.  I told her the website says after 1987 and she told me that is not their policy.  Has the policy changed or was she just wrong?  I have a receiver with a CB prefix so its not so much a problem, but I'd rather have it fit to the NK receiver if possible.  My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

Call again, you should get the correct answer, even SB2 frames made prior to 2000 can be fitted with shotgun, 357 and 44mags. If they've changed their policy, they need to correct the web site, but it's not unusual to get bad information from Madison CS, ask for Jeff Galloway next time.  ;)

Updating their web site doesn't seem to be a priority. They still list the Ultra Varmint Fluted.  I had a dealer call over a year ago and they said they were no longer producing it.  Maybe now that Bobby (RevBC) is retired he could work on it, it might just take  an "act of God" to get it done.

They list several models that are no longer in production because dealers may still have them in their inventory, the TDC and Trap gun are a couple examples that are still listed, but haven't been produced for a couple years, the BC Carbine was listed long after it was last made in 2008.

The website is indicative of H&R's overall marketing strategy.  They don't really have one.
