Obama wants to close Gitmo

  Gitmo houses the "worst of the worst" in the terrorist pantheon.  Obama in a speech today, will call for it's closure.
  It seems absolutely stupid to close what is likely the most secure location we have, to house these beasts who are bent on mass murder.
   To add insult to injury, the prez wants to lift the ban on sending these animals to Yemen...  The ban was placed when the Bush administration tried it in a very small way.. and found Yemeni prisons to be simply "revolving doors".
     Regardless of what has been learned the hard way.. the head of the Chicago mob will be sending these "worst of the worst" to Yemen..where they can be released or "escape" within the first year.

Include me in the crowd that doesn't understand all the controversy surrounding GITMO. They built it to house these people, why not use it. The only problem I have is that it sounds like it is WAY too deluxe and comfortable and they cater to their Muslim religion.

He tried closing that place almost from Day One. I think it will still be in commission when Obama departs.

Lol, read the appropriations bills.  The House has strictly forbidden funding for everything they'd have to do to close it.  Basically no one on a US payroll can even open a cell if it is to release one of them.

He didn't say he wants to close gitmo. he said he was going to close it.......if the congress tells him where they can put the detainess here in the homeland. Isn't that ironic, As head of homeland security, he is wants to bring dangerous murderers to the homeland! 
 
Oh! I almost forgot, he also said the war on terror is over, does that mean we surrendered?

I have a question, are the people @ Gitmo already convicted, waiting trial or both?

I think if convicted, this is a safe location and should remain open.

I not convicted, then I do think they should have trials. I do not agree w/ holding anyone (not even a stinking jihadist terrorist) in an  open-ended manner. Everyone deserves a day in court (even stinking jihadist terrorists). If they can prove them guilty, let the judgement of the court stand! If found not guilty, turn 'em loose.

  The military has been ready to try them..or at least they WERE.. until Obie came along and insisted a civilian circus would be the proper venue..  In a military court at Gitmo, the terrorists wouldn't have a chance to spew their jihadist hate messages..
