I am not a stalk and shoot hunter. I wait for them to come to me. When they come, I hail them with 22 Long Rifle, 223 Remington, 243 Winchester, Marlin 336 in 30-30 Winchester, Winchester 270 Model 70, and 338 Winchester Magnum BAR.
However, if I was a stalk and hunt shooter in heavy brush, I think the Marlin 336 in 30-30 Winchester would be just fine topped off by a 170 grain jacketed round nose bullet for just about anything that moves and sporting a single power 4x (or less) scope.
Remember, if the pigs are REAL close when they bolt, look down the barrel and not through the scope. A hit in the vitals on a pig is nearly always fatal. The 30-30 will pass through and leave a significant blood trail to follow..but not after dark.
