This was a given with any government sponsored health care. You live like they tell you to, and you do what they tell you to. If you don't, guess what? Its going to cost you more money.  Those that pay will always pay, and those that don't never will.

Funny 2B. Go ahead and joke about it.
Is there maybe another name for a panel of bureaucrats that will be making the calls on who gets what health care? I'm sure the leftist machine has somewhat of a softball name for these bureaucrats, other than death panels. I realize if they used a term like death panels they might not be able to fool the ignorant as easy, and that might keep them from feeling all giddy about Obamacare.

Wake up 2B, Obamacare is not for you or anyone else's benefit.

It was on two different news stations just tonight...not that it matters much. Yes, some will pay more, some won't pay at all..what's new?

Quote

No...the ignorant ones are the ones who have not taken a month to read through it all...everything else is just worthless opinions. I tried to read through it when it was only 900 pages at the very beginning a very long time ago, it has grown to a few thousand pages and will grow more. I never met anyone who tried to read besides myself, so most people just read worthless opinion from other people who didn't read either, ...example..."myths and facts bla bla bla."....none of those bone heads read it either. You can bet on that.
No we all won't pay through the nose..only some of us will. Same as everything is now...some people won't pay at all, some places will get waivers, they already have, even some districts where their representatives voted for it have already got waivers and don't have to pay. A few of us will pay it all.
Good news is...this legislation is so bad it will kill itself over time...it's already bankrupt.

Since congress didn't read it, and since it's still being written and growing it might benefit a lot of us to start reading it and stop guessing, what little I went through was enlightening to say the least, very little about health care, lots to do with money moving around gobs of regulations and government growth and does not fix anything they said it wold fix, makes it all worse. Whats new? Its big government with more power and no fixes with IRS enforcement. Think about that...enforced by the IRS.
Some people won't ever wake up, no use talking to them. They read everything but the legislation itself...go figure.

Well seems since you didn't read it , you must have some basis for the strong opinions that you have on the subject, maybe just myna-birding opinions you have heard from others that probably didn't read it either.

I thought about reading it. But, since I work for a living, and don't have much time to read something like this, plus, I probably wouldn't understand 1/2 of it, being written by lawyers and politicians,(did any real doctors actually have a hand in constucting this bill?) I wouldn't have much time left to make money. Hey, there's an idea. I could get covered by this bill, because I wouldn't have enough time to make money to pay my own doctor bills. I could be just like the politicians that passed this bill. Oh wait, they made sure they had their own plan. Their exempt from it. Oh well, back to the drawing board. gypsyman

Your own insurance company probably already does the same thing. Oh, they don't "require" it--- they come at it from the other end: they raise everybody's rates, with the option of lowering your premiums a tiny bit if you prove you don't smoke, or aren't obese, etc. , or are taking classes or provide evidence that you're trying to quit smoking, lose weight, etc. You pay either way. The corpo-communists always give you the illusion you have a choice.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

For starters, how about the basic fact that government doesn't, and can't fix anything. Whatever they do try to do the inefficiency is off the scale. Also every time they do, do something that they have no business what so ever. Some of our liberty is removed. Its beyond me how some of you support something as draconian as Obamacare.

CDQ, don't think in this day and age, you can't make a better govt., without making it smaller. Even in small towns and communities it exists. Just the nature of the beast. When you have a city like DC, thats pretty much the center of our govt., way to much power and money floating around for most, to not go to the dark side. Thats why term limits would be helpful. Get em out before they can cause too much damage. Just recieved an email that D.Feinstein's husband is the head of a company that is going to be the one that is selling off the post office buildings that they closed up to try and keep the USPS solvent. Company has a good chance of making in the tens of millions, if not more. Don't think there wasn't some strings pulled there?? Couldn't they go to local realestate agents to do the job?? Obama care is just another way for govt. to get bigger. Not better. gypsyman

What ever happened to "If you like the plan you have, you can keep it."?  And "If you like your doctor, you can keep him/her."?  Neither of those promises are given much priority in anything that's being reported.

Anyway, Obama never made any secret of his idea is really to drive us into a single payer socialist health care system.  Yippee, everyone will get an aspirin and a band-aid.  When you need some serious care, you can get on the waiting list.

The one saving aspect of this whole thing is that our Congress Critters are not going to settle for a half fast socialist plan and I doubt that the news media people are going to let them get away with their own little separate elitist plan.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the health care plans that I have had and have now were working fine before Obama, Pilosi, Reid and company came along. If it wasn't broken, why fix it?

300 million people are going to take a larger force of government workers to be effective--- twice as many, at least, as when there were 150 million people. The USPS is a good example--- did making it smaller make it better? It certainly did not. Our federal government has to change as the needs of the country change. In the 50s, 60s, and 70s, the military side of our government burgeoned to it's present, incredibly huge size, under the (misguided) fear of communist/socialist powers. Now we know we don't need that large a military. THAT's the part of the government we need to cut. Likewise, we, as a country, need to invest more in the citizens that live here. That part of the government has to expand. It's not a choice, it's necessity. If our government is a workable form of government, it has to change as the needs of the country change. If it cannot change according to the needs of its citizenry, it, by definition, is not a workable form of government. It does need to be better--- more efficient, more effective, not necessarily smaller. To expect corpo-communism to take care of the citizenry is to expect the Stalins and Hitlers of the world to take care of peasants and Jews. They have already shown that they are not going to do that. The only entity capable of counteracting such power to keep the masses down as is wielded by the corpo-communists is the federal government. Only the government, at this point in time, can provide a path to self betterment for the poor and working classes. The problem we face is that our government is presently working with those corpo-communists, if not outright under their control. The government should control them, not the other way around, not like it is now.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

The system is broken. How can you expect America to maintain it's prominence in the world when we spend an inordinate amount of money on health care with lame results?  That's money that could be spent on infrastructure, education or bombs.

Do you have any serious sources and not propaganda telling us that the poison is actually candy.
We look at all the liberals and we see that they think they know better, we see Bloomberg in NYC that limits drink size.  Why would they not go after the over weight and the smokers if the cry from the left is "we are paying for you"
We look at Social Security and what it was proposed as, to what it has become the same with Medicare and how the shift has gone from the "LOCK BOX" to now you need to have private medicare suplament insurance to cover what is not covered by the LOCK BOX you paid into.
What makes you think that the health care plan for the entire country will not go the same way, rates increase and the government plan pays for less and less.
And the oversite comitee is spelled out ing the Obama care bill.  We call them death panels, as that is what they will be come.
And since we can look at what the Democrats have done lately with their enemies list, at what point do you think they will go aver your health?
The Obama Admin went after the Republican GM dealer owners and closed them, they went after the Tea Party groups with the IRS, they went after the reporters that in the constitution have the job of keeping the elected oficals from becomein corupt with having a free press.
Now with the Democrats doing this, and how evil you think the republicans are, if the Demcrats set up the system to punish their enemies what do you think will happen if another Geo Bush and Newt Gingrich get into power at the same time.  Since you think they are evil don't you think they will stakc the oversite comitee and anyone with a Democrat donation, registration or other will be punished, like the Obama administration is doing now.

i agree with this approach...however...it is impossible (at least here and now)

for one thing, IMO, there should be term limits, LIFETIME term limits; and it's apparent that ONE person cannot serve in a presidential role effectively over a population of 350 million.

i have no concrete answers...but i do know we are headed down a dead end street at 90 MPH...we'd better do something and do it fast...

Simple answer: make government BETTER. NOT smaller, BETTER.

It will never happen. Its impossible. The bigger government gets the more corrupt, and the more powerful they become, and the less free we the people become.

Your statement CQ, is a lifelong dream of socialists, who want government to do everything for them. The idea is to keep government big and growing so they can continue to take care of everyone with their thousands of useless programs, all the while making them better. Socialists also think if government isn't to their satisfaction, then they aren't doing enough of what they are doing, and need to do more and get bigger. So they can create the utopian society, that they think government can create.  It has failed every time CQ. Government getting better while not reducing in size is a delusional thought.

Our founders knew that a small government which governs least, works best for free people. When power truly rests with free people, is strength and prosperity possible. Wealth within a socialist society is sucked up by a powerful centralized government. Any idea of wealth left for the citizens is just an illusion.

Once more: smaller didn't make the USPS any better. If smaller is really better, we seriously need to downsize the military.
If you give up, THEY don't have to win.

"'Cause what they do in Washington, they just take care of number 1. And number 1 ain't you. $__t, you ain't even number 2!" Frank Zappa

The greatest idea the right ever had is personal responsibility; the greatest idea the left ever had is social responsibility. Both take effort.

The Founding Fathers had complete access to the Bible, but they came up with the Constitution as our governing document.

Ok an organizatin only needs to be as big as is needed to complete the job at hand.
So a house painting company odes not need 200 people to paint two houses a day.
The Government has grown to a point that it is now doing things is was not designed to do.  We have departments that need to expand the homelss and poor to keep their jobs.
What we need to do is have a new system  that looks at the moeny needed to be spent at all levels of government and not automatically increase the government budgets more than twice the rate of inflation.
We have a problem with a regulation department that is there it change regulations as needed and to preserve their jobs all they do is write new regulations that are strangleing small business.  Many of these regulatons act as new taxes and raise prices.  All of Obama care is a huge additions of taxes and regulations to small business and the added costs to families reduce their disposable incomes reducing their buying powers at the same time increaseing prices for those wanted and needed goods, still further reducing their buying power.  And it is governmet getting bigger that is making the Poor Poorer!

I don't care how many misconceptions about the insurance coverage is, all i know is what it IS doing for me. Insurance for my wife and I is going up at least 400%. As a healthy young male i'm one of the few that is getting absolutely screwed in every way by this.

Affordable health care is exactly what it's not.

when you look at it from a perspective based in the Constitution...the federal government has expanded FAR BEYOND it's intended purpose, design and intent...

why, in the world, should the federal government be in the home mortgage business? health insurance business? student loan business? regulation of private sector businesses?

answer: they shouldn't...
