RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Thanks Cannoneer for sharing, very interesting. Looks like an electronic copy of his catalog is hard to find.

Thanks for sharing, that's one of the best videos on B.I.  The same iron and bronze naval gun carriage shown at 41 sec. into the video is now in my collection, serving as the carriage for "Vickie," the British 16-pounder rifled gun.  Some may recall when I posted photos after I won it in a 2011 (?) auction of cannons and artillery accouterments from Eastover Resort in MA.  The resort had purchased some of the very last artillery remaining on B.I., back in the 1950's.  The carriage shown was made by the Navy in the 1870's for the short-lived "heavy 20 pdr. bronze rifle."

I tripped over another video of Bannerman's Island.... some really great shots of it.....
Here's a little trivia for you... During WWI incase of invasion West point had ranging info and photo's of the island so if the need arose to keep it's stores out of enemy hands the island was to be shelled....
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!
