Question about BRNO rifles.
« on: June 02, 2013, 09:22:11 AM »
Dear Guys,

I have seen several BRNO rifles up for sale recently.  Most of them are quite beautiful, especially those in .22 Hornet.  They all seem to command extremely high prices.

But, my research indicates that the BRNO factory, after a long history of opening and closing, was permanently closed by CZ in 2005, and that it is virtually impossible to find spare parts or spare magazines for the BRNOs, even those made in the 1970s and 1980s.   (I collected original Colt Navies, and original Winchester 73s for several years, and though original parts were very expensive, they were very certainly available.)

I read somewhere that during many years of the BRNO productions, the U.S. had an embargo on the Czech republic, so it was illegal to ship any spare parts into the U.S.   Consequently, to the extent there are any left over spare parts, they are spread all over Europe some where.

So, given the fact that it is nearly impossible (not just really hard), to ever find a spare part, whey are these rifles so highly prized?  A rife that is "broke", is just a broken rifle.  (The parts currently made by CZ for its rifles don't fit any of the BRNOs.)

  Thanks for all info.

Be more specific as to what models your thinking of.

I got a couple of those old Brno's.  They are very well made and a pleasure to own.

I don't think I ever needed a new part for a gun in the last 60 years.
