A report by Britain’s Department for Education and Skills notes that an increasing number of schools are dropping the teaching of the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim students. The report, titled Teaching Emotive and Controversial History, also observes that many teachers are reluctant to discuss the Crusades because the lessons frequently contradict what is taught in local mosque
         It gets worse. The website Family Security Matters (h/t Weasel Zippers) reports:

In an effort to counter ‘Islamophobia’ in British schools, teachers now are required to teach ‘key Muslim contributions such as Algebra and the number zero’ in math and science courses, even though the concept of zero originated in India

The article further notes that 30 non-Muslim students at Parkview Primary School in Scotland were required to visit a mosque in Glasgow. During the two-hour-long field trip, in April of 2012, the children were instructed in the practice of wudhu, ritual washing to make the supplicant worthy of prayer before Allah. Family Security Matters maintains that the students were also instructed in the recitation of the shahada, the Islam declaration of faith, which states, “There is no god but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger."

Muslim leaders are demanding that Islamic preachers be sent to every school in Scotland to teach children about Islam, ostensibly in an effort to counter negative attitudes about Muslims.

In London, 85 of 90 schools have implemented "no pork" policies, reflecting a nationwide trend toward banning pork from lunch menus, all once again to avoid offending Muslim students.

The question that naturally arises is whether any of this bend-over-backward pandering would be taking place had the hijackers who commandeered the four jetliners used as missiles on September 11, 2001 been anything other than Muslim. Taking an alternate hypothesis—that the attacks had been carried out by, say, murderous Zionists—would New York City public schools be mandating the teaching of Hebrew in grades 2 through 5?Related Articles

I don't follow the Muslim threads too close, and spend 0 time worrying about their feelings. I see them quite a bit out here on the road, and note they stay to themselves, and have almost nothing to do with anyone not Muslim. To me they quietly slink around like a stray dog lookin to steal a chicke.

The British are a reflection of what the U.S. will be if not corrected very soon.  Even now, there are those that disregard the holocaust as lie.  The Brits have not changed since we drove them out in the 18th century. 
 
The French, mentioned above, are even less prone to do anything that might offend. 
 
We are still the most powerful, but it can't last.  The weakness of Europeans in their minds, will overwhelm our strengths.  The Muslims will be here in more numbers than we can count, and they will do as they please under U.S. protection.

Re-writing history is one of the favorite tactics of progressives.  It's the only way they can "prove" their idealogy works!
 
Our textbooks here in the U.S. are grossly inaccurate, have been for many years now.

i'm deeply offended that ANY immigrant(s) to ANY country, would ignore assimilation into the population of the chosen nation they migrated to then demand the country institute changes to THEIR old country's ways, beliefs and laws. why not just remain where they originated from?

Teaching history the way it actually happened is not indoctrination.  Rewriting it or omitting major events to further a political viewpoint is.
 
True, the younger elementary grades don't need to hear all the gory details or delve deeply into the how and why, but they can be made aware of events that actually happened.  I don't think ignorance is the best pathway to developing a healthy mind.
 
You see, by eliminating mention of the holocaust from elementary grades there will then be no need to include it in the studies of middle school, then high school, then college - because as far as they know it never happened!  And that, my friend, is how this country's young are being indoctrinated by an educational system controlled by the far left.

I don't think so...not a chance on this particular holocaust.  But as for the bloody others aforementioned, maybe.  And the teaching of the jewish holocaust is always heavy with gory atrocity details and stories. .......................... And its indoctrination because it is heavy in 'fear and guilt' to justify some other greater political agenda.  Just leave our kids out of this psychic conditioning_ _they don't need it.

incidentally...the German POST WW2 holocaust is mentioned by TM7 as a toll of 17 million...can someone elaborate on that one? i've missed that one some way...would that be the occupation of east Germany by the USSR?
