Pardner Pump, Wood v. Plastic
« on: June 06, 2013, 08:00:00 PM »
Anyone have any thoughts on wood vrs. plastic furniture on these? I'm predisposed to the wood for looks and feel, but wonder if the plastic is not a better choice. Talking the 28" hunting length models here.

Have only seem and handled the plastic models. No complaints, just like a good chunk of wood.

One thing I wonder about is how long the plastic lasts before it starts to turn into powder, like car interiors? Or what cleaning materials would melt or weaken them? For example is dishwashing liquid like "Dawn" OK? Can they literally be scrubbed like a kitchen utensil without wrecking them? Do folks put Armor All on them or something?

Your thoughts?

P.S. So synthetic stocks tend to shatter in cold weather and go soft in hot weather or if left in a car?

Wow, no opinions on H&R Plastic Stocks so far. LOL! ;)

Well, that's what I went with... let the criticisms fly. :D

Would prefer wood, or maybe not. Not really sure in this application. But wood certainly looks better and is easier to refinish or repair.
