Lots of Black Rifles
« on: June 08, 2013, 10:09:10 AM »
Went to Sportsman's Warehouse yesterday.  Was surprised to see 10 to 12 ARs still on the rack.  The shipment had came in Tuesday, and all these were still on the shelf.  Means people are slowing down on buying ARs.  A friend that works there said the last shipment of primers stayed on the shelf for till late in the afternoon.  They had been selling out in 10 to 15 minutes before.  They now have ammo on the shelves, no .223 or .22LR, but others that had been flying off the shelves are now staying.  I looked over what was there, I needed some 460 Smith shells, and some .454s, they had both on the shelf.  Still no .45LC, it went fast I was told.  Those Cowboys!  The ammo needed for Bear protection was in good supply, lots of 45-70, 375 H&H, .444 Marlin, and some heavy .41 mag.  There was also .243, 30-06, .270, .41 Remington, all the Weatherby Calibers, and the Ultra Mags.  But still no powder, and unprimmed brass, (except weatherby).

But the folks there are thinking the worst is over with and things should be getting back to normal in the next month or so.  I am think on buying an AR-30.  I really like the AR-15 I bought a few weeks ago.  I had never shot one with a scope on it before.  All I had ever shot was while in the military and used the peep sights.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Our gun shop had plenty of 22 but would not sell it in bricks. $15.00 for a box of 50 and limited to
two boxes per sale. They had a lot of PMC 223 also but it was $25.00 a box of 20 and the same
limit per sale. Also lots of ARs and the prices were coming back down to 1200 pre rifle.
Even at that price they were not selling all that well anymore, they couldnt tell me why.
But during the rush they had gotten a lot of the old classics you saw on the shelves during the 1980s.
People trading them in on the overpriced ARs.

The old Uzi cabines with the fake barrel just for looks. Some Macs, an LAR or two. But once more
any S&W used or not was bringing top dollar regardless of the caliber. It was like if you wanted a
a model 27 or a 25 you had really better have some deep pockets. They are getting up there with
the Colt SAA in price. Lots of 1911s I think the market got flooded with those everyone was building
them. They even had an XCR and a M96 from Robarms for sale but the M96 was priced like it was
an H&K! They are neat looking rifles the XCR reminds me of an FNH.
But there is always that reputation that Robinson got over the years that would make me hesitate
in ever buying one.

What's going crazy is that new Keltec twin magazine bull pup shot gun they just released.
Something like 14 shots in a bull pup. Charter arms is back again with their patent on that extraction
mechanism, on their revolvers that allows you to shoot ACP rounds without useing clips!
My question is why didn't anyone else ever think of that?

ANNA. THats price gouging, I hope folks boycott them. I was out at knob creek range the other day, where they have the machine gun shoot, and they have a 100 rd limit on everything. They buy 22s in bulk, then put them in baggies of 50 and 100 which sell for $7 and $13. I thought that was bad, yours is worse. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

I was in Anna's town last Friday and visited both gunshops. I was looking for Varget and Red Dot powder and large and small pistol primers. Lots of powder at both places but not what I was after. No Unique or 231 either. Picked up some .40 LSWC bullets at one for a good price and small pistol primers at the other, also at a good price. Even found a spare mag for the M&P .40 at an excellent price. No .22 rimfire at either shop. Walls were lined at both places with rifles including a lot of black rifles. Pistol counters were full also.

I did run into some Remington Golden bullets at the farm and ranch store while purchasing a couple of no spill gas cans. I commented that I was surprices to see that much 22 ammo. The young lady running the cash register grinned and grabbed a box of 525 and handed it to me. Only $79.99. I told her "no thanks" with a smile and she told me they were a bargain as they had been $125.

I just bought a brick of Remington 22's from one of the biggest viariety stores in Oregon for 18.99. They don't get many in stock, but when they have them, they sell for a reasonable price. They will continue to get my business." BTW" I'm not a big fan of Remington 22 ammo, but that is about all they are getting in and the Grand kids don't seem to care what ammo they shoot up ::) I keep the good stuff for emergency's or hunting ;)

They are pretty high, that place used to be called Larry's and he was a lot better to deal with.
Coonies is ok but he never has anything. Next time for ammo try the army surplus store out on
the Tatum hwy. Or the pawn shop on Central neither one of them have changed their prices
on anything if they can get it.

I'm not desperate enough to buy remmies yet, even if I could find any. Too many FTF and squibs. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I made the comment to my son, we were at the Dayton gun show this past weekend. Looks more like a military arms show, than a regular gun show. Most dealers had black rifles stacked up 2-3 deep on their tables. Looking for a nice lever gun, and seen a couple of Rossi's and a few Henry's, but, now many. .22 ammo was double what it should be. Wonder how long it'll be, before they come back to reality and get price's back to close to 3-4 month's ago? gypsyman
