Dehydrating Apples
« on: June 08, 2013, 03:24:01 PM »
I'm going to dehydrate some apples with a Nesco FD-60...I'd like to hear some of your experiences with preparing them: peel/not peel?...use citric acid to keep from browning?...what spices to put on them, if any?...how long will they keep if vac-sealed?

I just did some. I didnt peel them. I cored them and sliced them on a mandoline and treated them with lemon juice. I have a fd 60 too and I think it took about 5 hours to dry 4 trays. Next time I will use the Ball pre treat to prevent browning the lemon juice made them a little sour

Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?
