32 gauge Handi?
« on: June 10, 2013, 02:09:51 PM »
I was in a small gun shop in Lebanon, Ky today, and I saw a barrel that I am almost certain was on an old H & R shotgun, judging by the lug and ejector.  The only marking on the barrel was: 32 Gauge.  I have two SB 2 frames and an SB 1 frame, so I am fairly aquainted with this platform.  I had to pick it up, and when looking down the bore noticed that it was rifled!  Has anyone ever heard of a 32 gauge slug gun barrel on an H & R, or on any other gun ?

Thanks,
Lee H.

It's a tranquilizer gun. I qualified with one in the Army.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

What Markus said, made by H&R for Palmer which may be out of business, their website appears to be dead.

Thanks Marcus and Quickdtoo.  The thought of a tranquilizer gun never crossed my mind.  I'll be going back down to Lebanon tomorrow or Thursday, and I'll tell the owner what he has.
Just as a side note, I stopped in another gun shop in Lebanon on Monday (Kentucky's small towns are just loaded with small gun shops), and I saw a Remington 870 12 ga shotgun with a five foot barrel (no, I am not exaggerating).  The owner said it was custom built for turkey shoots (not turkey hunting).  I held it and put it up to my shoulder, and it is totally un-suited for any type of hunting.
Thanks,
Lee H.
