Ahhh, Mocha is good.
« on: June 11, 2013, 05:33:10 AM »
Finally after 3 cups of strong black coffee. The first at 6 am. And a 1& 1/2 hour walk down the back fence line. And a 3 egg beruito with cheese & green chili. I made my first cup of mocha for today.

Ah mocha, the staff of life.

I will agree with that, to a degree but as I write this I am consuming another cup of my dwindling supply of Postum.

When I found out they had quit making it, I bought, for a very high price, nine jars on Ebay.
Had I known before they stopped making it they were going to, I would have done as some did, bought cases fromt he local grocery store but I doubt I would have sold any on Ebay.

PASTORP. Mocha is good, but I use Hills Bros  instant english toffee cappucino. I put 3 tbsps in a cup of coffee, or add a tbs of instant. Just the capp is too sweet and not enough flavor to suit me.

BOB. I remember postum but don't ever remember trying it. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

What is mocha? I always thought it was chocolate. Pardon my ignorance, but to me there are only two kinds of coffee: Folgers and Folgers decaf (i.e., red and green)

Definition I looked up doesn't exactly make it clearer, except I assume it's not boiled leather juice:

Definition of mocha (n) Bing Dictionary
   mo·cha  [ mṓkə ]
  • strong Arabian coffee: a dark brown strong-tasting coffee from Yemen and some other countries on the Arabian peninsula
  • flavoring or drink: a flavoring or beverage made by mixing coffee and cocoa
  • leather: a soft suede leather made from sheepskin or goatskin, originally from Africa

I've heard of mocha, but doubt I ever had one. If I did have one I would have no idea it was a mocha. Any more if I stop for coffee somewhere I have to look for the regular coffee. All I see is latte, which I call yuppie coffee, then there is all this flavored stuff. What the heck ever happened to regular coffee?

       mmmmm............... coffee!
Sometimes stick a candy cane in a good cup of black, thick coffee.
Whip it to a frothy foam.
G-d has been very good to us.

Conan,

Defination #2 is what I drink as desert after my regular black coffee.

Back in the late eighties when coffee shops started to show up around here, all were wonderful non-chain shops, ( Every single private shop is now belly-up due to one of the chains, not only here but some I used to go to in the twin cities which is a metro area of over one million people. I loathe chains)

I tried some of the flavored drinks, not just mocha.

At first I though they were great but as time went on they slowly  no longer appealed to me.
I no longer even buy the flavored non-ground beans that coffee shop special coffees got me to try, although my sig. other seems to be addicted to Toasted Southern Pecan.

I do however still buy the Mocha version of Hot Chocolate powder that is out there now.
Fleet Farm seems to have one of the best and I have tried quite a few, even the pricey ones women,s junk shops sell.
I often do often modify it though with a teaspoon of cooking cocoa powder (the high priced cooking cocoa do have different tastes) and some heavy cream.

I have a favorite coffee cup I bought at a Renaissance Fest that holds about twenty ounces and just the other day I brewed my self a cup full before hitting the sack, slept like a baby.

I like my coffee like I like my women, tied up in a burlap bag and thrown over a burro by Juan Valdez.

I used to drink Luziane before I found gourmet coffee beans.  ;D guess it reflects my priorities. I really can't afford it .... But I do.

The way I justify it is its my only vise...... Since I don't use tobacco or alcohol.
