While trying to make you point you have ignored the fact that Hitler could not have done what he done had not the German SOLDIERS, followed ORDERS. Are they all murderers in your eyes, for following ORDERS?

I didn't ignore anything.
There's rules of war.
If your commander says to clear out a village and rape the women in that village does that mean that you are innocent of any crime because you were just following orders?
There's killing in wars.
And then there are WAR CRIMES,,  just because you are in a war doesn't mean you are GOD  and you make the rules!

War crimes. Interesting terminology. I guess then GW Bush, and a lot of officers are guilty of "war crimes" in Iraq cause they caused the deaths of several hundred thousand people that did nothing to us, other not livin up to "our standards. So did the Vietnamese by your definition. Right? It really doesn't matter why you kill a bunch of people that have caused you no real harm. It's still a "war crime" isn't it m-g willy?
Hitler killed'em because they were Jews. Kennedy and Johnson killed'em cause they MIGHT become communists. GW and company killed'em cause they THOUGHT they might have weapons of mass destruction. Turns out WE, were the only ones with weapons of mass destruction, and we used'em on innocent Iraqis.
When the world hates you, it's usually for a reason.
So tell me m-g willy. Are John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Bains Johnson, George W. Bush, Dick Chenny, and all their minions, "war criminals"? They all ordered the deaths of millions of people that had done nothing to any of us. Or does your name have to be on the other side of the coin to be in the wrong?

when you get right to it, the rules of war is... them that win, enforce the rules they want to enforce, and for those they want
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Bottom line is in a very few years there will no longer be any one left to convict of WW-2 war crimes. There will be few to even face them in court and testify . Of course they did wrong ordered to or not. Some enjoyed it others did not .
But after all these years will spending millions to convict them really be worth it ? Of course it will to a few that we understand . But could that money be better spent feeding those who do not have the means to feed themselves ? or to allow help women with their children that may otherwise be aborted ?
Guess it's a decision is it worth more to kill an old man or help others live?

Before doing anything else to him (if proven he IS the Nazi in question) I think they should put him on national TV and ask him to outline exactly the process Hitler used to take control and become a total dictator.   I think it might open some eyes to OUR current situation!

First of all Hitler declared war on us, and so did basicly the Japanese. The Japs that didn't want to
surrender committed suicide and so did a lot of Germans.
If this guy is one of those officers who didn't accept surrender and went to hide somewhere then
he is still an open target. Even if he wasnt guilty of war crimes the Geneva Convention is very clear
on this point or he can hang as still being a combatant after the fact.
There was no Geneva Convention back then but a case in point is the CSS Texas.
A Confederate ironclad that after the South Surrendered was still harassing merchant shipping.
Every Navy in the world knew the Texas had a price on its head including the Royal Navy.
At the end of WW2 two German U Boats didnt surrender, one was blown out of the water by the
Britts and the other scuttled itself killing all on board.

Let's get our facts straight here. The United States was selling oil to Japan, and decided to stop right in the middle of Japan being at war with OTHER countries, without notification. Europe was beggin the U.S. to bail them out, but the American citizen was against it just coming out of WWI. Roosevelt KNEW that Japan was going to react when he cut the oil off, and pretended NOT TO KNOW, and knew that such an attack was the only way America would let Roosevelt commit. Roosevelt set the U.S. up to be attacked.
After the attack the U.S. with a grateful president declared war on a "German ally" when the U.S. declared war on Japan. THEN, Germany declared war on the U.S. Germany would have preferred the U.S. had stayed out of it. Europe, with the aid of Roosevelt led us into it.
Europe wasn't grateful when we bailed them out in WWI, they weren't grateful when we bailed them out of WWII, and they don't like us now, with France being the more vocal about it.

Well if its facts you want lets go back to uncle Teddy R. who used the Japanese to fight the Russians and keep them out of Asia leaving it to England , France The US and a few others to exploit. Korea and the Philippines both suffered . Like America many considered Asia the next step in Western expansion from the west coast of America. So it was many things that caused Japan to attack the USA. Some feel it was things set in motion by old Teddy that was part of why Viet Nam ran the French out.

......................  He got away with it for a long time.  If I had been born into German society and was made a soldier, I would have chosen to be shot rather than to murder the masses.  When you were in uniform, you did what you were told, like I did, but I think the both of us would have baulked on an immoral order.

Two points.

When you are facing a Firing Squad or in this particular circumstance, even the pistol of a Superior you may opt out to follow orders especially if you have Dependents at home.

It may not have been an immoral Order for him, nor an illegal one for sure. Different folks Mike. In example
Even the Brits and the French shot their own wounded troops if they could not be evacuated rather than leaving them to be captured alive.
What is the point of Life if you can't have fun.

Think what you want when it comes to what YOU think is a just reason for war.
But you implying that are troops are no better  than NAZI scum that were just following orders shows you have no idea what war or war crimes are.
Until you can figure it out I could care less what you have to say in the matter.
Maybe find some OWS protesters to listen to your drivel.

Lots of people were killed in WWII, Mel Gibson said.  He was right.  Get over it.  Quit sniveling.   8)
Study after study has shown how dangerous distracted driving is yet people continue to talk on their cell phones while driving. Driving in the U.S. requires your full attention. Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

Sure we declared war on Japan, but who attacked who? We're we supposed to sit around and do
nothing like were doing now? Perhaps we could have sent in some mall ninjas if we had them back
then. Such courage, such valor, as we sit and watch our country and its founding values erode before our eyes. But I might get killed! If that's your problem then you are not right with your afterlife.
Now lets all just talk about it for awhile, I'm sure that is going to cause our enemy's to flee in shear
terror.

So I name Kennedy, Johnson, Bush and Cheney, and you translate that to me sayin "our troops". Reading comprehension problem?
Nazis killing Jews is wrong. Americans killing innocent Iraqis is right. So the two aren't the same?
You've figured it out, and are right, while mine opinions are drivel.? I don't think so.

So brave, and so many are ready to lead the charge. Even if a leader did emerge our forums would
talk him to death. So add another accessory to your AR15, I'm sure the Chinese economy will appreciate that.

Anna, I defended peoples rights, and fought their fights for them, for 20 years, and have the scars and paperwork to prove it. So did my boys, so your in way over your head sayin that to me. You need to do some research on our "founding values". Our "founding fathers" would have said no.
It would seem that everyone is willing to forget actual history in order to win a debate, or they never actually knew it in the first place. America did not want in this war (WWII). They were still licking their wounds from bailing out an unappreciative Europe in WWI. America collectively did not want to  get involved, and they were TRICKED by the government at the cost of several thousand at Pearl Harbor which was rouse to get America behind Europe. AGAIN!
What I have said here is historical fact, so there is no need for me to defend history any more. It is what it is, whether anyone likes, or believes it or not. It's easy to lead an imaginary charge on a keyboard when you've never fired a shot in anger, and know that you will never have to.
Now I'll get out of here, and let these cyber warriors fight this one out to their cyber death.

Lot of Nazi history in regards to the extermination during Hitlers time. If you don't read WWII mag, they have determined that there were over 42,500 various types of Nazi camps, far more than the expected numbers. Not all were death camps. Read about Dachau here:

Going back to a soldier being ordered to kill civilian Jews who pose no threat to anyone.  "Kill the Jews or we will kill you," is the order.  The soldier know it's wrong to follow the order.  But he thinks of his own young life and his family at home.  He chooses to kill the innocent.

Now let's take a similar scenario.  You are captive by whomever.  No chance whatsoever of escape.  You are young with a young family.  Your captive tells you to deny Christ or be killed.  You deny Him and are released.

Both individuals in that scenario should have refused the order.

Now we have a really old dude who did not refuse the order.  At least I suppose that's what he did.  It may have been that he gladly eradicated as many innocents as he could align his sights on.  The time that has passed is insignificant and of no regard whatsoever.  70 years or 1000 years is not even a blink compared with eternity we all have waiting--somewhere.

If war crimes were not excusable 70 years ago, they are not excusable then.  No matter what else on the wide earth is going on.  No  matter who killed who in what war, no matter what else.  I agree that the news article is of little importance in view of everything else that is current, but the old dude has got to face the music if he lives long enough.

If we could temper justice with elapsed time, then we ought to be letting out the young people that went into prison for life 50 - 70 years ago.  But then, the Nazi didn't have to spend a day in prison.  He ain't got time to for justice to stomp him like he needed stomped all those years ago.  JMO.

Now I'll get out of here, and let these cyber warriors fight this one out to their cyber death.

Never fired a shot in anger?
Keyboard warriors?
You have no idea of who you are talking too or what you are talking about.
Should I list every time I used a gun ?
And if I did ,, who would be impressed.
And how many would wonder WHY I felt the need to tell complete strangers?
I can sit back an say I did this or I did that,, I was this and everyone should listen to me!
None of that means anything.
I don't act like a high school kid bragging about my sex life and I don't feel it's anyone's business about any shooting I might have been involved in.
And me telling anyone, let alone strangers on the computer things I have done  seems like  an attempt to try to impress someone.
And I think we are all to old to be impressed with war stories on the computer.
At least it doesn't impress me any more than the tough guys that hide behind a computer screen.
