Whole State To Be Rifle Legal for 2013 Deer Season
« on: June 15, 2013, 10:19:26 AM »
After consulting with a member of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress's Big Game committee, I've been informed that not only has my resolution to take my county to rifle legal, the whole state will be rifle legal for the 2013 season. This takes place after many years of hearings and testimony before various committees. I would like to thank a Big Game Committee member(Al P) for really pushing this in Wisconsin along with others who worked on this with me. This started back in the 2010 and 2011 Spring Meetings. Good Job Fellas..........

Good, now I don't have to buy a slug gun. The whole shotgun idea is a myth. I would rather see 100 gr 6mm , 130 gr. .270, 150gr 06 bullet splatter than a 365 gr 12 gauge splatter into 10 pieces of lead when it hits a rock. The only time I ever saw a gun shot would was a drive in Big Falls Wis. about 30 yrs ago. Soemone shot at a deer on a drive, the bullet hit some stones and lead everywhere. It hit a hunter in the forearm. Went through the clothes, through his arm and out the other end. I saw the scars a year latter. He was lucky. Even with a 180 gr bullet ya got half the lead, and with velocities of a rifle it turns to dust when hitting a stone.

It sure makes a lot more sense to give a young shooter something like a .243 rather than a hard kicking slug gun.

We found out the statewide rifle season did not increase accidents. I think we had seven accidents. None were from stray bullets. So rifle it is I guess. It was nice using my rifle down here too.
