Easy to understand why at least the one boy had a disiplinary problem.  If I had ever done anything like that I sure wouldn't have wanted to go home - I would have definitely been "traumatized", and NOT been defended by my father!
 
If the prosecutor had any common sense he would be commending the guy for apprehending them, instead of considering whether to charge the guy.
 
The father is trying to weasel out of paying restitution for the damage his son caused.

i had a monor  once spin his wheels and spray me with dirt


i jumped in the back, put down  one minor in the back


reach in and pulled out the driver as he was driving  away
got his  keys and tossed them in the river


police   showed  up long after  i fled
they were searching for a man named  TOM  for assaulting minors

Its upsidedown new yawk, what do ya expect! Its obvious why 8 and 10 year olds were doing stuff like that, they have morons for parents! 40 g's, Wow! explains why the parents are deflecting the blame and pressing charges! He should have held that hammer head and used the other end on their buttocks!

So what kind of recourse do the home owners have in a case like this? I would think the parents of the kids would be in a position to pay for all related bills, including the ones related to the "child endangerment" thing.

Yep! the guy should get his legal fees for his prosecution, but you never know he may go to jail. The parents certsainly hope so! I cant believe a DA would go with that but I'm no lawyer. You know why the parents pressed charges, seems the Prosecuter would have seen through that.
 
Maybe if they pressed charges the DA had no choice but to let a judge decide.

I guess if the parents are stupid enough to raise kids like that, then they're also stupid enough not to see that it's a bad idea to have something like this go to court. It looks like the kids were caught red handed, and were not hurt. So the adult victim may be in violation of a law, but will very likely have a sympathetic jury if it makes it to civil court. Especially if he has legal expenses or jail time from the criminal side of this. If that happens, the parents are going to need a miracle to deal with what happens next.

It's New York, the Daily Mail that reported it is English. Their US page is surprisingly good, if you can get past all the tawdry salacious stuff and the celebrity news. A lot of the big stories get the best reporting there.
