New G2 carbine barrel
« on: June 21, 2013, 07:26:48 PM »
Ed, of Eds' Contenders, saved the day for me. A friend gave me some 221 Fireball brass and I had nothing to fire it in. I got ahold of Ed and he came through with flying colors with a 21" MGM barrel that left Oklahoma City in todays mail. I loaded a few tonight to see what it likes. Now the waiting begins. BTW...Thank You Ed!

Your going to like that barrel. I have a 21" David Van Horn 221 for the Contender and a 22" tapered Encore barrel from the TC Custom shop. Both excellent shooters. I grab the Contender mostly anymore as its much lighter for an old guy. I have a staright 10X Burris on the Van Horn and shoot RL7 with 40 gr V Max or a 225107 cast gas check bullet with a variety of different powders under the lead bullet depending on what I am shooting. If you can't find 221 brass its easy to make from 223 range pick up and usually fits the factory chambers a little better to boot.

Thanks for the tip about making Fireball brass from 223 Iowa Fox. My barrel got here yesterday,
could not believe how fast it got here from Oklahoma. It is raining here today so I will have to wait to shoot it. Ed of Eds' Contenders is a good man to deal with, probably will again when/if I get some extra money.
