"The Hold"
« on: June 23, 2013, 03:07:27 PM »
Okay, so everyone says to use the loose artillery hold on air rifles. I have the Nitro XL 1100 .22 Benjamin. It ABSOLUTELY will not shoot with this hold or any other loose hold. If you tuck it in tight and grasp the forearm snug it shoots less than dime size groups at 15 yards. Soda cans at 50 yards are a piece of cake.  A loose hold and 2" groups at 15 yards are the norm. What gives??????

i always hold however i can get the
best accuracy. some folks have been
to a shooting clinic, or read a book,
or watched a video and get stuck on
whatever they've saw.
a man in a group of folks i'd
hunted with was all about the wrapped
military sling hold, and chastised anyone
there who didn't think like him. i tried
it to please him once , and it pulled my shot
off to one side. works different on a garand
and a marlin.
use what works for you.

Well count your self ahead of the curve as you have a shooter!  (Not that these don't shoot) just that as a true magnum springer many cannot master it!  If yours shoots good your way more power to you!  Very few things in this world are finite this is but one that's best under the heading "most springers need artillery hold to shoot well". You proved that!

Read up on these guns seems many folks have similar issues and for the most part if your a little "handi" you can make them better your self at home.

Good luck with yours they can be a real power house!
