New Topper 158 30-30 with custom wood
« on: June 25, 2013, 06:45:20 PM »
Bought a Topper 158 30-30 off Gunbroker for $155.  I think I got a good buy but only time will tell after I shoot it.  Looks like someone put new wood on it and if you look closely it looks like they had to file off a little metal to fit the stock.  Seller said the stock is solid with no movement.  Do any of you guys recognize the Topper?

Close up of receiver.  Notice metal work to fit stock.  What do you guys think?  Good buy or ?

if it shoots good and you're happy,
it was a good deal.

but - one doesn't never ever file off metal
to fit to wood, the wood comes off to match
the metal

Yep, it comes with the scope. Yes, don't know why they removed a little metal. Wish I knew its history.

Looks like maybe something fitted from another firearm, the forend definitely is, the low hammer means it's an early M158 or the hammer has been swapped.

Well, I can't wait for it to arrive so I can shoot it. I think I'll swap out the large scope for a 1-5x.
