Bought a Springfield XD-9 today.
« on: February 23, 2004, 03:39:06 PM »
I thought I would try the plymer frame route for a change.  I bought the compact version of the Springfield XD-9  (9 MM) today, I had read that they are nicer than the Glocks, and since Glocks are pretty decent I hope this pistol works out in the long run.  Anyone know of how many rounds these polymer frames will put up with?  Seems like a nice gun, any suggestions on care, lube, ammo choice etc.  Can the plastic frame tolerate any type of lubricant?

Thanks.

I own this gun as well and I think they are better then a glock. Yes, lube up that sucker! I like to use CLP or Outers products. This gun will last hundreds of thousands of rounds! Look at the different gun magazines and read up. ou can also find several tests on this gun online. Enjoy!

Had a HS 2000 for a brief period when they first started importing them. Paid somewhere around $235 for it chambered in 9mm. It was ok, but I just couldn't really warm to it. Looking back now I'd say it was a pretty good deal for the price. Now that Springfield is importing them and has renamed them I understand the going price is almost doubled. The guns are simular enough to the Glocks to be of sound design. Bet you'll like it!
Follow the manufacture's reccomendations for lube, it's easy to over do.
