I'm done
« on: June 27, 2013, 05:29:38 AM »
With Encores they are all getting the boot. The Handi are my new found love
and come in plenty of flavors. I'm now a handi-aholic.

Tim, pete, Doc are y`all to blame for this. The Handi`s are more accurate and feel better for shooting. Just better all around.

But we need a larger selection of barrels to buy ( Barrels only) Instead of having to buy all the
guns and part them out when you can getem in stock.

Somehow I knew that.  I had  several T/C MLs, a Seneca, a Cherokee, and a White Mountain Carbine, in .45, .32 and .54 caliber.   They would shoot.  Patty still has a Seneca .45 and it is a shooter.  I don't own, or want to own, a T/C centerfire.   Everything I hear tells me the same thing:  The T/Cs won't outshoot a Handi and the Handi is the best bang for the buck.  I never could get used to that ugly, cockamamie stock on the T/Cs.

T/C made some wonderful Traditional Muzzle Loaders, and stopped when they had their factory fire years ago.  The market was turning rapidly to in-line MLs and Thompson Center shifted to that focus.  That's where the bucks were.  Then they went to center fires and lost me completely.  I don't like their in-lines or their center fires.

You'll be glad you finally figured it out. I like a nice accurate bolt gun but the little H&Rs are, well just Handi is the only word I can think of ;D  Encores don't fit or feel like a rifle to me.

Pete, I've had an old 45 Seneca for many years and can't make myself part with it. Patty has good taste as we know, she's with you ;)

One of the great things about the Handi is you don't need to have all kind of an added on gadgets for it. It is a K.I.S.S rifle, what not to like about it. I have not shot in Handi muzzleloader Ever.

As for the old TC side locks those are becoming harder and harder to find nowadays. Some of them are going for a small fortune today.

The Handi they have more of a natural feel to them then the Encore. The hand grip on the Encore just feels really really weird.

I admit I am an addict. Just need to get a few more barrels And some other calibers and I will be all set. Encores don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out bye bye. Be nice to clean up the Encore mess I`ll tell you that.  ;D

Kid, It really is a good day, but I don't know how much I'm enjoying it.  Grab your paint brushes, rollers, ladders, etc. and come on up.  We're power washing decks and siding, painting the barn and staining the decks.  It's a whole new learning experience...you'll love it.  If ya bring a Handi, ya may even have time for a shot or two.  I'm just in grabbing a sandwich and out I go again.  I wish something would show up to shoot at so I had an excuse to get off the job 8)   I like paint about as much as doggie doo.  I've got a lot of the latter free and no use for it, and the former, that I've had to buy, is worth a few Handis.  I'd rather have the rifles and the hell with the barn.  If'n ya tell Patty I said  that, I'm gonna deny it. ;)

Now hold on there, Pete!  The TCR was about as pretty a piece as you could find at a price a working stiff could afford.  The two I have had only had one problem - they kicked like a mule.  Both were .30-06.  I sold them both with a tear in my eye 'cause they were too pretty for words.

Winter Hawk, I just don't like the way they fit me or the lines of the plastic stocks.  I promise I won't ask you why you had two .30-06s when we have three Maxis ;) ....don't even want to get into shotguns.  Talk about duplication.

What's so bad about having 2 or more of any gun?  Makes ammo and components selection a lot easier!;D.

I got two '06's, two 7.62x39's and two .50 cal. Muzzleloaders.  What can I say, I like what I like! ::)

Pete, I got plenty of work here in TN, don't need to go looking for more.  Worst thing is mine is not a hunny do, it is self-inflicted!:-\

bigvarmnt, the H&R logo on the barn is a great idea.  It'll have to go on the other end, cause there's no way the boss is gonna let me get rid of her quilt square.  I think Reminton's advertizing department ought to pay for it 8)    You older guys remember Barn Advertizing?

If any of you guys can get up here this summer, give me a shout.  The free range is open.  Bring anything you want, and there's about 25 more here to try if you'd like.  I might even make a few bucks betting Patty'll shoot yer azz off 8)   It's a real shame.  She can see and pretty much quit hunting.  I can't see and live to hunt. :'(

John, I can see four of a kind.  You can shoot two with your hands, and if you're really talented two with your feet....but, what do ya do with the other five?
