Yeah they shoot good. I have the S, T and heavy barrel T. It really all depends on the price if I didn't have one and was looking. I got a deal on mine when a gun shop was going out of business. For comparison the accuracy is about the same as a CZ 452 or 455. The stock on the rem is plainer and the magazines on the rem are plastic. The 541 trigger feels a little better than the CZ. I definately wouldn't pay the 450-500 that folks want for a 541 today, not that good of a gun. But they're not bad either.

I believe that was the gun I had. It shot patterns and come to find out there was a run with bad barrels. They fixed it but I traded for a 7722 w/26 inch bbl. and never looked back. So you might want to shoot what every you buy some bad ones may have not got repaired. The ones I have seen at the range were good.

Super nice and accurate guns. I regret letting mine go several years back. I used it to win a huge pile of trophies in NRA SB rifle silhouette matches. Faye still has hers. She used mine I think it was to win the only rifle competition she ever competing in.

I had one with the heavy barrel that had a problem of some sort. It was returned to Remington for a replacement rifle at no cost to me. I think my cousin still has it and uses the replacement.

I have nothing but good to say about them.

I have the 541T made before they started doing the heavy barrel. I bought it because my friend who worked in his dads gun shop had one. He said his would out shoot his dads sporter Anschutz. I never got to shot with his dad or shoot the Anschutz, so I have no idea what groups they got with It, but after I got my 541 my friend and I shot together a lot. Mine would do 1/2" give or take a little for 50 yd  5 shot groups. On occasion I could get in the low .4's area. His would push 1/4" but not sure he ever quite got there. Probably in the .3's and low .4's most of the time. I can't promise they all shot like that but those two were shooters.

Edit: I forgot to mention those groups were with match ammo. His shot best with Eley 10X and very close with the now discontinued PMC match. I used either Green Tag or PMC match most. The Eley shot about the same as those in mine so I could not see paying the extra price. They would both still do right around 1/2" with hunting ammo. His Winchester Silhouette mine with CCI SGB

When I decided I wanted one was when a boy I knew went out hunting with us. He was bragging on it stacking bullets. Sure enough he shot a tree offhand, then proceded to drive about 4 more in the same spot. You could hear the twang each time he smacked the one alreary there with the new one. It was only 15-20 yards but off hand. Also general cheap hi vel ammo. Not a huge feet but more accurate than all of us where carying and a few of us could repeat what he did while shooting his gun, but couldn't with ours.

I've had one heck of a time deciding...
heard good things about CZ ... but i couldn't get past the backwards SAFETY
the cooper is awsome...so is the price...
the anchultz is fantastic....but ive had three peopl who have shot both the remington ..and the anchultz..
two said the remington shot better.....
and then again.. the remington matches my remington 700 classic in 6.5x55
and benchrest central has an ol boy up in iowa ..who's  a remington 541 guru...if nothing else send it to him..and let him sprinkle some of his magic dust on it....
and ? dag gum it ....its made in the USA.

BUT ?! ... lets shoot it ..and see where we stand...the previous owner says she shoots lights out...
hopes so !!!

I have the 541 S and one of my good friends has the 541 T and he will usually outshoot me when we have a informal shooting session here on the place, I for hunting will still keep the 541S over the T model just because of the wt. difference, you will have a shock when you start looking for 5 round mags and the price they are going for.   Jim
