Was going to post a photo from the Speer Manual Number 8 with the RL-11 data I was talking about but I don't want to get into any copyright issues.  I read somewhere once that the Speer Number 8 manual was a "hot" load edition of the Speer manuals and when compared to some later editions that would seem to be probable.

The book shows the following RL-11 loads with 180 gr Flat Point out of a 24" Enfield custom:
Start load 39.0 gr  2307fps  Middle load 41.0 gr  2402fps  Max load 43.0 gr  2477fps
It also shows RL-11 maxing the Speer 220 gr Flat Point at 2157fps
Never have used RL-11 but that is some scooting along velocities out of a 35 Rem.

I thought about rechambering my 35 Rem Handi to 356 or 358 but it shoots so good as it is that I don't want to fix what isn't broke. Not to mention 35 whelen rifles are at about every dealer in town along with 45-70's and 444's. I thought about just getting a 35 whelen and loading it down for lower end loads and can just use the Hornady Superperformance loads for top end. Barnes makes a 180gr load in their Vor-tx line or the Federal Fusion 180gr loads. I'll probably go this route as I'd rather have complete rifles instead of swapping out barrels especially since a complete rifle costs about the same or less than an Encore barrel.
God created man, Col. Colt made him equal.

If I had the Remy I think I'd use it for the 'light' loads and dedicate the Whelen to the bruisers; the Remy's case capacity is better suited to downloading too. Well, that is If I wanted to stick to the 35's, really I'd have the Remy and go for a 45-70.......Oh, silly me, got that already  ::) .
