« on: June 29, 2013, 03:07:28 PM »
Was out today with my flintlock and we got talking about cannons as mynewestis 2.225 bore and someone said a pool ball is 2.25 got me to thinking
So i barrowed one dia is 2.25 weight is 6oz light yes but then one could reduce ones loads
I know they are made of veriouse materials
Just wondering what others have to say about them
I was planning star with 6oz tomato cans with concrete in them have yet gotton any dry yet check there weight
I gave up on golfballs and went to zinc balls witch i liked but stillsent gb though the tube now and then for fun

I have used them...but with 2-3oz powder behind them...they turn to dust! ???

and they aren't very cheap to find most of the time~

A long time ago some one here went to one of the companies that supplies pool tables to bars  and was able to get a bunch of pool balls for cheap or nothing depending how well my memory works.

There is a thread on pool balls in the archives. Look on pages 50 to 55, if my memory serves me right. Seems they were having good luck with them. Could use them a number of times. Got them cheap as used balls. Cue and 8 ball were a bit larger so they would return on the tables that have coin slots. That's about all I can remember.

I shoot yard sale pool balls out of my Napoleon, never had one disintegrate on firing, only on hard impact. All the ones I've had are some kind of fairly dense plastic and have worked well. Usually only pay a couple dollars for the set which makes for cheap ammo.

Boy that one thread is an oldie.... December 26, 2007 it seems to be one of my first posts.... and in the next post DD giving me a welcome.... and we're still both here and kicking!
I had a nice reproduction Bronze mortar years ago, my first run of ammunition for it were made of cement cast in side tennis balls and then removed. That was until I discovered pool balls! they worked fine, the main problem was recovery....... with a full chamber they went out of sight!

This was the one I had years back, Yeah I know It needed cleaning, had been out shooing it,
didn't get to clean it till the next week end. I made the base and the irons for it.

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!
