So it looks like what ever happened to the site the cannon forum lost about six months of posts...... some of Greybeards lost over a year of posts...

ouch....... Glad to see it back up whatever the cause......

The Greybeard facebook page says they are doing maintenance and the site is down for the time being..... so maybe by some fluk we are seeing an older version of the forum....

When I first logged on a couple of nights back, the post date had regressed about 2 years. Now we are about 6 months behind. We will adapt.

I have read so many times on here about computer crashes, computer viruses, computer stolen and the importance of backing up your info and keeping it somewhere else in case one gets lost. Might be a good time to do this.

My stuff is lost but here is how it turned out

We have ordered a new server. It will ship out on Monday and hopefully be here on Wednesday. Matt will have to load everything onto it and then head to Atlanta to install it to replace the failing server there. For now we are operating entirely from our local servers here at Matt's house.

For now we've lost all data since last July but Matt is pretty sure that once he gets the hard drives from the Atlanta server in hand here he can restore pretty much all that data. At worst tho we've lost six months worth of posts but everything else is intact and we think those are still there and he will just need to work his magic to restore them.

When the missing 8 months gets re-established, I wonder if these posts will be current or buried in the eight month old archives?

Jeff I might make a video when I get my Brooke rifle done and take my mortars with it to my wife's grandmothers land about 45 min away. Do you use your phone or a digital camcorder.

If anybody wants the full set of .dwg files let me know. You can scale them to your liking.

My guess is the posts/threads are ordered or retrieved by date so the missing stuff will just fit in the hole where they aren't and the subsequent stuff will remain in relative order.

I remember the post you made about making the trunnions. They turned out real nice.

Generally I use a decent point and shoot camera in video mode on a tripod. Last summer I bought a GoPro camera and I film at 240 fps with that for slow motion. It's a little tricky to set up since it doesn't have a viewfinder, but you can connect it wirelessly to a smart phone or computer to see what's going on. I also used my laptop's webcam in the video of my Coehorn.
