Weaver K3 60-B
« on: February 02, 2014, 01:28:19 AM »
I picked up this Weaver K3 60-B with a post reticle at the gun show yesterday. The optics are very good. I'm probably going to move the 1.5-5x20 Leupold that's on my 336 to my 1895GS and put this scope on my 336.

While the old steel tube weavers are certainly usable I would not class their optics as very good. You really should look for a old M8 3x leupold if you want a nice 3 power riflescope.  ;)

I've got a 1.5 and a 3x  in the old Weavers.  Not the brightest scope for sure but no fog or jumping the settings. They are not in current use.

I agree with the pastor. About half of the ones ive used and handled were yellow from seals leaking. The rubber they used had a tendency to dry up and leak out the gas. If it hasnt happened yet it will and hopefully at a time thats not critical for it to work. That and they sure werent any great glass to begin with. Personly if it were my money id just as soon have a blister pack tasco from walmart. Just as good of glass and at least the seals are new. I can see using one on an old classic gun that just looks right with one but if i did it id have to send it out to a scope repair shop and have it rebuilt first and by the time you did that youd probably have into it what a decent scope with good glass would have cost to begin with and youd still have to settle for there marginal glass.
