I'd still rather have the Corvette, but with a stick.

Had both cars had experienced drivers the outcome would have been different.  Since neither car had a competent driver it just doesn't mean much.

Kind of what I saw. The corvette driver did not have any rpm's built up before the start, and the Tesla had a better start. In an even start the corvette wins easy. The price for the Tesla is over 100K, and I doubt that anyone that spends that much on a car is not concerned about buying gas for it. If I had a 100K to spend on a car. An electric Tesla would not even be considered.

Now a Tesla with a stick would be a trip.  Manage traction control through variable soft start electronics and performance would be increased immensely.

Have you driven a Ford lately.

I drove a six-speed C6 a while back. Very grabby clutch, easy to stall.

Does the Tesla even have a transmission?

Tesla has peak torque from the start. In a quarter mile, it might outperform the 'vette. Any longer and there's no substitute for cubic inches.

You're saying the model S P85 that is rated at 443 ft.lb. of torque has no power curve.  That it produces that same amount of torque from the first revolution of the motor to whatever rpm it peaks at?  Then why would the car not benefit in both performance and power management by the use of something more than a single speed transmission?

I wasn't delivering an opinion, I was pointing out  a fact. The Tesla delivers peak torque off the line whereas the Corvette has to work up to peak torque. The Corvette's internal combustion engine has greater horsepower. Once the vette reaches peak torque, it will eventually pass the Tesla. The Quarter Mile gives the Tesla the edge.

even with good drivers I don't think either one of them would do much against a farm truck.

At work one of the guys has a tesla that looks like an exotic sports car of some kind. I had him take me for a ride because he was saying it was like an electric super car. That thing was amazingly fast from 0-60. Lots of torque and great traction in a light car. It pulled hard like a big block. From there it was down hill though. From 60-100 it was probably closer to a v6. From 100-125 it seemed more like a 4 cyl. 125 was top speed for his. I am guessing they could have more batteries and a reprogram of some sort. Wasn't real impressed above 60 though in stock form.

I always liked a good drag race, but it doesn't really prove much for the practical power of a car. I've been in some cars that were not impressive at all coming off the line, just good, but they felt like a rocket taking off when accellerating at practical passing speeds, like passing a truck that's going 50 or 60 mph.

For car vs. car competition on the highway I've been a big fan of the 60mph roll-off, where you are both cruising at 60, then punch it.

That farm truck--what a sleeper.  Not a bad driver either.

That farm truck is really something! The pizza delivery sign is a nice touch.

Here's the other kind of drag race:
