375-08 handi
« on: February 02, 2014, 03:11:14 AM »
Got dies and 243 barrel in mail yesterday. Sized a few 308 brass. Pretty easy to do with one pass. Thought it would be a little tougher but the ch4d die set has a long tapered expander ball in it. 243 Barrel locked up perfect on a frame I had. So its off to jes reboring with a dummy round on Monday. What is his turnaround time like on a rebore?

What are you guys with the 358 Winchesters shooting with in cast bullets. Looking for a bullet to try and keep it in the neck and still crimp in crimp groove. Looking for about a 275 grain bullet.

This looks like a good candidate. Fairly short from base to crimp groove.

Jason,
In the 358\356, I like the 190gr RD boolit. I got some from a kind-hearted member here for my Max and found they work quite well in the 356. Perhaps they made a .375 bullet of similar design.

Jes' turnaround time has been 2-3 weeks.

Thanks, Dinny

I've sent three barrels to Jesse for reboring/rechambering, first two came back in a week from the day I shipped to him, the third took longer, but it was cuz he was waiting for the other two barrels he was gonna do at the same time with the rented reamer.

He never told me what twist it was going to be. I told him I was going to shoot 250-300 grain cast out of it. What would be a good twist for it?

RD makes a 235 gr gc for the 375 and is a great bullet. These can be bought from Carolina cast bullets.

I just order this mold from accurate molds. It is 35 cal but I am having it cut at 378 diameter for this rifle. Should end up about 260-270 grain

The nose after the crimp groove will be at .366 for a bore rider.

I just love to see custom modifications to our Handis.  It highlights their versatility and I hope H&R takes notice.  I'm sure Brian does.  I'm not knocking lever guns or other actions, but if it were not in a single shot, most of our wild ideas wouldn't work.  I couldn't have a Maxi or .445 in a Marlin.  I gotta hug my Handis.

Just looking on ammoguide it looks like all 375 calibers are 1-12.

???  That chambering doesn't leave much shoulder for head spacing. Any thoughts on how that could be addressed ?

Thanks-Good Luck/Good Shooting  :)

That's when it will get a rim cut and switch to 307 or 356 brass.
