:-D Thanks everyone for your input! NOW the only :roll: one left to put in the stable is the 22lr Sportster, and THAT is on order!

Shown are the H&R model 258, electroless nickel with 357Mag bbl & Bushnel 4x32, with 22 Hornet bbl and Bushnell 4-12x40 that I had NIB,
NEF Handi Rifle in 7mm-08Rem with Weaver K-6 Classic,
NEF Tracker II 12 ga with acc. bbls: 28" MOD and 32" full.

I like I said on your first post I jump on it in a hair minute, after you post the pic's I still would, Hope they shot good, I think you'll enjoy the 357,
I am Mine, I reamed mine to 357 Maxmum, Take care good shooting.

I love the looks of these rifles wearing straight stocks. Two of mine wear straight stocks. Nice, clean, simple lines that feel good to the hand and look good to the eye. A very nice addition to your collection

The electroless nickel finish IS the H&R model 258. The blued versions are the earlier model 058 and later 158. They are from the 70's & early 80's, before NEF's time. The stocks are original, there are some recent models from NEF that have the straight stocks, some are special commemorative models, like for the NWTF. I don't know if any current models are offered with that stock style, you'll have to look at NEF's site.
If you read my post, "What is the 357 magnum good for other than plinking?", you'll see that I regarded this as a rare find.......you may see a setup like this for sale tomorrow, or you may never see it again......!

BTW, Thanks everyone for the compliments! I'm pleased with the 258 also. Not only that, I did get to shoot the 357mag last Sat. , and had a great time with it!

Which came first - the model 58 or 158? Reason I ask is, I have a model 58. Serial # indicates 1982. It appears identical to the model shown here except its blue. Has screw on forend, transfer bar, tapped for current scope base.

Anybody know what was the model before the transfer bar safety? How about models with the "snap on" forend?

My son & I have Each Model 158 They date by serial no
for 1972 & 73. so 158 must have come first. They DO NOT
have Transfer bar . They rebounding hammer. Marv.

:roll: I've been having a REALLY hard time getting on to post!
Anyway, my H&R 258 has an AY prefix, indicating 1982 mfr., the last year for H&R?. The fore end screw is flat blade, and is captive to the fore end.
It has the transfer bar system.
