red dot for Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter
« on: February 10, 2014, 06:00:48 AM »
I have the gun above and am looking for info on mounting a red dot type sight on it. I currently have a 2x Simmons scope on it but I just don't like the small scopes on a pistol for hunting. Is there an adaptor of some sort to make a weaver rail for mounting a red dot on this revolver. Has any one here done it?

Weigand makes a mount.  I personally would drill and tap it to place the optic back, but it's your call.

Many states and countries have made it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle and the federal government should follow their lead. Banning the use of cell phones while driving would have the added benefit of making the no-texting law enforceable.

Thanks for the reply. I found the website and will be ordering one shortly. I have the Hunter model which has the built in rail with the two ring cutouts and Weigand make a picatinny rail that will work.

Randy

I often hunt with a Ruger Redhawk Hunter, that has the same style mounts as the Blackhawk Hunter.  You can use any 1 inch tube (30mm also available) without having to go to a pic rail.  The Ultra Dot series are good.  Shown is one I have had mounted on my Ruger since the 1980's.  Reliable with many hot loads thru that gun.
